Matthew 7: 13-14,
13. Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering it.
14. But the gate is narrow and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are they who find it.

When one comes to the Lord, they leave the old self behind and wear the new self through Christ Jesus. Leave the worldly ways.

A paradox.

There's a scripture about sowing bountifully, rather than sparingly, so it's not being stingy or narrow-minded with your efforts. If you were walking along a bush path, you would be combining a number of skills to stay on the path. You would be practising patience, respect for the rules to stay on the path, enjoyment of the journey, co-ordination of your body, attention to your personal health etc. If you were totally undecided about what your methodology was going to be (say, you felt like you were in danger so you would go off track to avoid another person, instead of preaching to them and continuing on), who knows where you would end up?

This advice comes straight after the advice about keeping on knocking. I know that with Zen, there's something that says you should wait until somebody asks three times before you give them an answer. The key is persistence, rather than just trying a different approach out of desperation. There could be such a thing as continually using other approaches as well while you're knocking, I suppose. If I was knocking, I might also be admiring the trees or the sky or something at the same time, or collecting my thoughts...

Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me".--John 14:6....Thats how narrow the "way" is. All other religions, philosophies, and other "roads" are part of the "broad" way that leads to destruction". So, a Christian doesnt have to do ANYTHING to "narrow" the Way. He ALREADY is on his way there... You either accept Jesus' Way, or you DONT. Thats why the road is narrow. Most of the world wants nothing to do with the real Jesus.....theBerean

following christ is narrow enough. For many shall come to the gate but few will enter therein. Because they are too in love with the world, money ,sex, power , drugs , pride.. Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

I'm confused by your question--surely, you do not wish to narrow the road for yourself any further?? God's kingdom is a real government with Jesus Christ as its princely ruler. In order to reach the point that it will rule over you and you will receive all of its benefits (ie. perfect health, use of 100% of your brain, everlasting life, etc.) you must first take in knowledge of God and his son, Jesus Christ. Then, you must put away the old personality and take on the new personality. The next step is to make a dedication to God to do his will instead of your own. Then, you get baptized in order to symbolize your dedication publicly. Lastly, you must endure until this system is destroyed or you die. Do all this and you will find life.

Read the Word of God and let Him lead you. If you stray off the path, He'll let you know. You'll be under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The road that leads to destruction always takes you away from God, and the narrow road takes you closer to God.

Start caring about strangers more than your family and friends. Start selling your posessions and donating the money to the poor. Feed the hungry. Campaign for clean water for people who don't have it. Comfort the sick. Visit those who are in prison. Challenge politicians and clerics who ignore real human problems for the sake of popularity.

That should narrow your path quite a bit.

If you are Born-Again, you have already been translated into the Kingdom of GOD.

The wide way leads to "destruction" for a Child of GOD. (not hell)
The narrow way is the way of Life or "Walking in Holiness" and that is when alot of Signs and Wonders follow you--Miracles too!

Get on the fence or change sides of the fence. Go from hot to lukewarm or hot to cold. Talk the talk without walking the walk. Starve himself of Spiritual food. Start doubting his Faith. Take off the Armor of God and go around unprotected. Turn to logic, philosophy, science, etc while not leaning on Faith. I could go on and on. Good question.

By walking a close walk in the word and Spirit. Obey both the word and the Spirit. But remember the word and Spirit always agree so the Spirit will never take you out of the word.
