"The epiglottis is a stiff flap of cartilage located above and in front of the larynx. During swallowing, the epiglottis covers the opening to the larynx to prevent food and fluids from entering the trachea. Thus, the epiglottis protects the lungs."

I would have this checked. My grandfather had an issue with this and had coughing fits when it didn't close all the way. Only very little, but it was enough to let some saliva through and make him cough.

Whoa, take a breath Friend! Or at least use a little punctuation...

It might well be allergies or asthma. Have you tried keeping a journal of when the coughing attacks come on?

What about walking pneumonia or even acid reflux? Sometimes that can cause coughing.

Try another doctor: Coughs like yours don't just come on and hang on like that without a reason.

Good luck!

i had something very similar to this over 12 months ago but it was eventually diagnosed as pneumonia. This was confirmed with a dye put through my lungs and a scan done. The aching was mainly a result of having a low red blood count and after receiving 4 units of blood it stopped straight away and the infection cleared up. I can only suggest that you keep going back to the doctor and ask for a blood test to check your white and red cells as these will indicate to him whether or not your body is fighting an infection. If it is then he should follow through with more testing. Don't let it go any more as you will only end up exhausted and can become very serious. Good luck.

I just got over something that sounds exactly like what you're going through. I finally went to the doc and he said I had bronchihtis. It also started with a cold for me. Then I was better then it came back.I also had the metal/ aluminum taste in my mouth. I ended up having to take antibiotics and an inhaler now it's gone. You should see a doc and get some medicine, cuz it won't go away on it's own

It all sounds so confusing & horrible! The best thing to do is although some people on this website would be fairly knowledgeable in what actions to take I must agree with the other users & recommend you go see a doctor again & explain everything you said up above. They will be able to diagnose & fully explain the reasons this is happening to you & more importantly how to fix it.

Try this tea. Ok get a packet of regular old green tea. Open it and put it in a pot of boiling water. Also put some fresh peeled garlic, raisins, lemon zest, and some fresh onion. boil it for a while until turns a different color. Put some sugar or honey to add sweetness. If your allergic to this stuff don't do it.

You may have a food allergy to additives.
Keep a notebook of when you cough, what you have been doing prior to the attack, so you can show it to your Doctor.
Arrange to have allergy tests.
Drink filtered water.

Trust this helps, get well soon.
