I don't know how you're going to adopt an adult unless she is totally disabled.

As to the kids, if you legally adopt them, then yes, you could claim them on your tax return. But you can't just go and adopt someone else's kids without a good reason, and wanting to claim them isn't a good reason that would pass court muster.

Unless both single mom & her kids are your direct dependents meaning living in your house and eating your food and under you roof as your dependents--meaning that you pay for all of that.

if you can prove her retarded, then you can....if not, she has to be young. if she is over 18, i think if you put her in college, then you can do up to 25ish....
