This question goes out to all the Christians out there who constantly post variants of Pascal’s wager asking what do you have to loose if you worship God. Keep in mind this is purely a hypothetical question.

Say after you die you realize there is an afterlife, but hold on, it’s not the one you had expected. You find yourself in the presence of the Egyptian God of the Dead, Anubis. He’s about to weigh your heart against the weight of a feather. This will decide your fate in the afterworld. What say you? What would be your reaction if you found out that you had picked the wrong God? Is your heart as light as a feather?

Oops.

No really the Christian God was not named as a specific god or diety just the one God worthy of worship, when he was asked which one he was God replied I Am. IF this one God that judges and creates is Anubis (real name Lenpw) then it is cool as he would be the one God worthy of worship and the one we did worship. Although Lenpw isn't the god of the dead, or a god really considered worthy of worship, but rather he is the guardian and gatekeeper, the guide to the afterlife. The god of the dead would really be Osiris. Look it up.

Light as a feather, guess that would depend on the context. But Osiris was called the "merciful father" so he would judge kindly. Gee kinda sounds like someone Christians talk about huh?

I'm a Christian and not a big fan of Pascals wager other that a simplistic statement. But to answer your question there is only one God. The Egyptian God or any other pagan god will all have to bow their knees and confess that Jesus is Lord to the Glory of God the Father sometime before the final judgement. I have complete faith that this is the truth. Demon's and devils flee just using the name of Jesus. Jesus Christ is Lord of all.

Still haven't lost anything. I lived a good life regardless of my faith. Doesn't change anythng. The only way it would change is if my good doings were offensive to Anubis. Which I seriously doubt. I don't know how I would be judged by Anubis. I dont know exactly how I will be judged by God, but I still live my life hoping for the best.

I know MY God is true. And you make no sense and Egyptian God Anubis??? Nobody even knows who that is except you! I know I am going to Heaven because I worship God and give him all my heart. I am not wrong and will not even think about it.

Belief is not actually a matter of choice, and so neither the wager nor the alternative outcome is a mater for for debate.

What you truly believe is whatever is most apparent to you, not what you desire in order to feel good or safe. If you were told you could find eternal joy by believing the sun rose in the west, you could not cause yourself to believe this. Your experience would not support your desire to believe.

@ chrissy

If anubis is like the christian god, then he is going to make your afterlife a complete hell for not choosing the right religion. Regardless of how good of a person you are.

Remember that the single greatest sin you can commit against the christian god is to deny him. I'll bet that anubis feels the same way.

So yes, you do have a lot to loose.

This is a question one would ask when their faith is weak.

My faith is strong so that is impossible since I read the words of God.

Your hypothetical questions is really pretty lame. I guess you are just trying to besmerch God and Christians - I guess that is "fashionable" in todays society.

God Bless You.

The God I believe in is contained in all religions, and is available to all people who are willing to open up their hearts to Him (Her?).

So...Will it matter to God that I spent my Sundays in a Christian church? That I came in contact with His peace and compassion through the teachings and life of Jesus?

I don't think so. Nor will it matter if someone surrendered to Him through Hindu, Native American, Muslim, or other religious practices (Egyptian too)

Centering our life in the Spirit is what matters, in my opinion. Nice question. peace

Well I'm not a Christian...but if I died and met Anubis instead of my Deities, I'd be thinking I sure am glad I took good care of my dogs! ;-)

I think my heart is light enough not to have my soul devoured....
