Why am I so happy when it rains?

It's raining right now, storming actually, and spiritually, I love it. I have ever since I was a small child. I have no read anything about this in Islam (honestly, I didn't look). So why do I love it when I see, hear, and sometimes even smell the rain pounding on the windows? Why am I in such a creative mood that I will literally stop cleaning my home (not that it's dirty, just a load of dishes or laundry), grab whatever project I'm working on, and start to crochet?

The thunder too, all of it combined makes me feel, I want to call it relaxed, but that's not quite right.

lol, I don't mean a normal relaxation. I mean something like when I see in the news it's going to rain, I get very happy. I can't wait. I see the skies turning that dark gray color, and something about it just gives me this burst.

I love it too. One reason other than the psychological explanation(stirring up feel good emotions) is that negative ions are released in a rain storm...breathe them in....one of the best of healthy things that you can do for your body.

oh yes, I feel that way too. For me, there is "bad" rain and "good" rain. Sometimes, rain just makes me feel yucky. But other times, especially those rains when the sun is still shining - I feel invigorated. This is especially the case with storms. It must be a natural human reaction. Someone above said something about the ions and I think there is merit in that.

Here are some verses I found that sort of pertain to this:

Verily, in the heavens and the earth are signs for those who believe.
(Sura al Jathiya, 45:3)

It is He who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and hope: it is he who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with rain! Nay, thunder repeateth His praises, and so do the angels, with awe: He flingeth the loud voiced thunder bolts... (Sura ar Rad, 13:12-13)

It is Allah Who sends the winds, and then they raise clouds: then He spreads them in the sky as He wills and makes them dark, then you see the drops issue from the midst of them... (Sura ar Rum, 30:48)

Don't you see how Allah drives clouds with force, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap? - then you see the drops issue from the midst of them. And He sends down from the sky mountains (of clouds) wherein is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away from whom He pleases. The flash of His lightning well-nigh snatches away the sight. (Sura an-Nur, 24:43)

It is He who sends down rain from the sky from it you drink, and out of it vegetation on which you feed your cattle. (Sura an Nahl, 16:10)

I'm a Leo too, well Cancer-Leo to be exact. I've also always loved thunderstorms. I go with the negative ion explanation, it's not really happiness I feel, just a feeling of being energized. Especially just before a storm, I love feeling the barometer drop, it's awesome.

The storm releases Negative Ions into the air.
Negative Ions can make you feel good.
Also, when Jesus cast the demons outta that feller and into the pigs, the pigs ran into the water to try to get rid of them.
I have this theory of why we feel so good after a rainstorm (with lightening) and after a shower.
I believe water, in some ways, drives away the darkness (demons?). Also, hydraphobia is when an animal goes crazy. They hate water.

well, you must be associated with water sign. Rain or water for that matter helps you to release that adrenaline level, a comforting, soothing emotion from within your innerself. Actually the sound of rain or water was and always sounds like music into my ears, may be its what you feel or hear too. The running water seem to sweft away all our worries, problem and negative emotion. With water as part of the universe we can atuned ourselves, we can make ourselves closer to mother earth and in touch with its spirit/gaya. The sounds of thunder and flashes of lightning added an exitement into it.

Any person has a guiding motivation in her/his life, in your case,it's the rain, for some people it's another matter. It's only normal to feel that way, because some felt relax,atuned when they hear a mello music, some feel great under the sun, some so cool up in the mountain ,some feel great under the sea, some feel so comfortable looking and watching the sun changes its color, others become more imaginative,resoucefull and passionate watching the deep blue see.

As for me I like the sound of the rain, I like the sounds of the falls and soothing sounds of running water it relaxes my inner self, I like watching the birds flying so freely in the blue skies beacuse it gave me the sense of freedom, I like to see sunset in different shades because its remind me the life itself has different shade, different angels like emotion, I even wish to go under water, but can't swim and dive, but I know it would be so great to watch the fish and corals well protected, it actually remind me that there are different culture out there,yet still the same beautiful creation of God.Most of all I felt so clam and great whenever I felt wind into my face, It's so ! so good. I like riding a none airconditoned bus, I open the window and feel the air. It's so nice It feels like God is touching you. But the most calming of them all is up in the mountain, watching the deep blue see below , looking in the sky, with its bird and watching the sun go down and feel the calmness of the wind , find the present of HIM. So, I guess it is what explain your feeling toward the rains.

I like it when it's stormy because it reminds me of my life. When lightening strikes without warning like it has in my world once or twice. I hear the thunder rolling, feel the icy cold hard wind blowing...

ther is alot of energy in a storm , u must be able , to utilize it or it wouldnt have such a affect on u, enjoy ur creative spirit.
