There's evidence of the M1,M1A1, & M1928A1 being used.

You do know that a confusing point is that M1's had M1A1 Bolts with the fixed firing pin swapped out when sent to DS for work. You cant just assume the Lack of rear sight protective ears connote a M1 TSMG.

Also some of the non Infantry units had M1928A1's.

Heres a List of some units where the TSMG was a TO&E weapon

o-741st Tank Bn(M)

o-743rd Tank Bn(M)

o-745th Tank Bn(M)

o-747th Tank Bn(M)

o-635th Tank Destroyer Bn

in addition the Former NCO/Off of the 29th Rangers kept their M1928's when RTU'd

Also many M1928's were in Use by RM Commando's, British forces on sword & Gold Beaches

as for a website, find it yourself, its in plenty of Books

I concur with Kyle D on this. I'm sure some were equipped with the BAR as a squad weapon as well. That Hollywood does not necessarily arm soldiers accurately should not be a surprise to anyone.

I don't have a website, but the answer is yes, and no. In a squad of American infantry the squad leader was armed with a thompson, and the rest were armed with M1 garands, and possibly special weapons (Browning .30, or bazookas.)
