OK, I live in florida where it gets very hot. And he leaves his dog, who is a sweet tri colored lab/pitt mix out side in his dirty, and very smelly yard with out food and water. He has a dog house but the dog dosent know how to use it, and the only reason he has it is because animal control told him to buy one, and the dogs eye is very red and swollen, and is weeping, its been like that for months. nd he just recently got this cute little puppy out of the paper for free. And she is infested with fleas, and her tounge is very white, and I think I read somewhere thats because of the fleas? I have tried to help both. The lab mix I fed him secretly till at least till he was fat, and got the man to get a 75 foot runner from tree to tree for him. But I dont know what to do with the eye. I buy big dog biscuitts for my Dobie, and cure/pitt mix and I give the big doggie a couple a day and pet him. But He is extremly lonley. The puppy, I have given her a flea bath, but she has them again.

And calling Animal Control is not an option. I do not want them to go to have the chance of being euthanized!!!

He even has about 5 cats, and only a couple are spayed, but the dogs are intact.

He dosent even take care of his children, he has a very nasty, house. he has never cut his grass, there garbage litterally all over his yard, and there is garbage and *crap* litterally, human and animal all over his house. His kids do not have a mother, and dont even sleep on mattreses. Matter of fact, they dont have any.

It is your responsibility to call Animal Control. The dogs will not get taken away or euthanized. Most likely, they will give the man a notice saying that he needs to get the dog to a vet within a certain period of time(for example, they may give him 1 week to get the dog to a vet). They will also fine him (make him pay money) for neglecting his dogs and not giving them food and water.

I live in Florida, I work in animal rescue, and I frequently deal with Animal Control. The law states that the dog MUST have food and water, as well as vet care. You need to call Animal Control to make an anonymous report, tell them the dogs have NO food and water, and the dog is in desperate need of medical attention. An investigator will have to come out to do a "wellness check", see what is going on, and then give the guy a notice. At most, they *might* fine him (if they bother to do anything at all). Even if they did take the dog away (which they won't), the man will be able to get them back at a court hearing if he tells the judge he will take his dogs to a vet and start taking care of them better.

Further, I think someone should ask the man if he is willing to give away his dogs to someone else. After he is fined by Animal Control for abuse (in my county it is $100 per instance of animal cruelty) and lack of rabies and/or registration (since i am sure he hasn't bothered to have a vet give rabies shots either), I'm sure he will be more than willing to give the dogs to you or someone else.Try to find someone who will take them.

Calling Animal Control and finding someone to adopt the dogs (with the current owner's consent) are your only 2 legal options. I firmly believe that when a kind and caring neighbor (like you) witnesses animal cruelty, it is then your responsibility to stand up for the dog and report it. Please don't do anything illegal (like steal the dogs). The dogs will only be given back to the owner and you will end up in jail. Finally, try emailing dogsdeservebetter.org. If you give them the abusers address, they will send him a letter and ask him to take care of his dogs or give them up for adoption.

Good Luck

Edit: as far as the fleas...they can kill him. I suspect that if you don't call animal control soon, the dog will die from anemia. A flea bath is useful, but it won't keep new fleas from jumping on him. The dog really needs a flea medicine, like Frontline. It is a flea control product that you put on the dogs neck and reapply every month. You can buy it at a petstore or the internet.

I'm curious, what county or city do the abused dogs live in? I might be able to help a little more if you can let me know the specifics.

I know that you don't want the dogs to be euthanized by animal control, but if the dogs are healthy and have a good disposition, then animal control may not take this step. However, if you don't call animal control these dogs could continue to suffer. These dogs are obviously suffering as it is. Unless you steal the dogs and take them to the shelter so they can find a better home. Or you call someone for them to come out and try to rescue those poor animals.

If you keep calling, something will be done about it.
(hopefully)
But don't stop trying to help. You may can get some help from your local vet, like if you get some flea prevention and sneak it on the dogs. If he really doesn't care for them, then maybe he will let you take the puppy to the vet if you offer. Maybe the dogs can run away secretly (not really a great idea, but not really a good idea.)

He sounds like is a hoarder or is getting started on hoarding. Without complaints into animal control, he will be able to keep up with what he is doing too.

Good luck

You need to for the sake of the dogs and the kids report him to the Humane Society, and Child Protective Services!! They probably wont just put the dogs down, have you seen Animal Cops?? I think it is on discovery channel. Just tell them that you want to adopt the dogs. They will more than likely take the dogs, which will then get the much needed medical care from them. People like that man make me so mad!! I treat my dogs better than most people treat their kids, so imagine how good I treat my son. His poor kids need to get away from him too. I would not just sit there and let him do this! How could you have just sat there for months and months and seen what this poor dog is going through with his eye?? And not to mention saying nothing about the kids!! You need to do the right thing!! Not to mention that if u do end up with the pitt he will love you for ever and ever!! My boxer pitt mix was very abused also, has barb wire scars ect all over him and he is the best dog ever. I know that he is truly gratefull for his good home.

Next time you see the jerk, you should threaten him. Tell him that you see EVERYDAY the neglect that goes on at his house and you are not only concerned about his animals, but the welfare of his children. Tell him that if things don't change you WILL call, not only the ASPCA but child services as well.

If he says that it is none of your business (then you know that he knows what he is doing is wrong) and CALL for both the animals AND children. I am sure after being given a ticket for cruelty to animals, he will change his mind about how he cares for the animals. If not, ask around (your friends, family & co-workers) and see who would be willing to adopt an animal IF the authorities DID get involved and it was either adoption or euthenization.

I wish I was there, I would do it for you. I'd kick that guy's *** clear across the country. Jackass. People like that make me SICK.

Best of luck.

Well, the best thing for you to do would be to call the nearest animal shelter, if possible a no-kill one. Even if the dogs are taken away, think of how much help you can be giving them getting away from that place? It will make their lives better. Also, you could ask to be notified if they are adopted or if they are going to be euthanized if they are not adopted soon. Maybe you could even think about adopting them if there is nobody else? You feed them now anyways.

I don't really know what else you can do but call the Humane Society or ASPCA. They're living in horrible conditions now and at least they'd have a chance at being taken care of and adopted out to a good owner. Sad situation.

Call the humane society and report him anonymously and then call social services both will come out and check on the children and pets and see if they are kepted up on there shots and there well being. He will get fined and get time if he doesn't fix the problems. no child or animal deserve to live that way.

Report the owner to local police for cruelty to animals. Contact SPCA. OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER. Listen, if I knew some one is abusing wife or kid, I would report to the police, same goes with the dog. I would NOT touch their dog tho, you can get into a legal problem. Leave the dogs alone, and REPORT REPORT REPORT to local authority. Handle it legally with third party get involved. I also live in Florida. My next door neighbor dogs are being treated like some piece of weed. Of course country red neck people owns them. Siberian Husky in STEAMY HOT FLORIDA? GET REAL~! right? What county are you in? My friend is a manager of SPCA here in Polk Co.

If you won't consider calling the animal control people then there's not much more you can do then.
I would call because animals can not speak for themselves and depend on people to keep them safe and healthy. Where I live animal neglect is a crime and people should step up to the plate and report people that commit animal neglect and abuse.
