Being spiritual is practicing spirituality to the core. Spirituality does not demand any rituals whatsoever.
Every serious seeker of spirituality must follow the dictates of Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred scripture available on Mother Earth (the doctrine put forward by Lord Krishna in Mahabharata). This one document... the sacred Bhagavad Gita is sufficient for one to gain enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (aka moksha in Hinduism) in this very life.
The knower of Bhagavad Gita... becomes the knower of all! Practicing rituals was a practice of the past. In the Vedic times... when spirituality was still in its infancy... the appeasement of gods was primarily done by sacrificing animals in the temples. In the present scientific age... such rituals and sacrifices are not least necessary.
Spirituality is walking the jnana yoga path. In the last about 150 years... sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana... both gained self realization and reached the end of their cosmic journey. Following the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana one can definitely reach the highest pedestal of spiritual life.
The sacred scriptures are not to be read literally... Bhagavad Gita is required to be understood as it was meant to be. Performing karma... the Nishakama karma way and following the path of jnana yoga one shall ultimately reach the 8.4 millionth manifestation.
Spirituality demands highest level of truthfulness in every deed. It is only then one takes absolute control of the five senses and the mind. Practicing absolute celibacy for a period of 12 years and yoga, Shavasana yoga way... one finally reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
Going to the temples, churches or mosques is not the least necessary on the spiritual path. God Almighty is everywhere. It is also present in every living being in minuscule form as ones soul atman within the heart. Whenever we go wrong... our soul atman within the heart prompts us on the right path... what more would a lusting human form desire! People say they believe in spirits. Now thats a lot of commitment. Why? First realize that a soul is eternal. Forever lasting. that means reincarnation is a very simple route to stumble upon when thinking deeply about our tru form. Because the body is only the capsule to the soul. God punished Adam and Eve by giving them flesh. Therefore they must bleed and fell thirst, hunger, pain, sadness. Yet in the bible He says i have created you out of my image. What image what that be? God has no face, body. Why would he have the things gave Adam and Eve as punishment. The image that we are of him is a spirit. We obtain a soul, but were bound by physical boundaries. The first way to learn how to control the soul is that you have to learn how to control your mind. Your thoughts, emotions, actions, reactions, wants, habits. They must all be in sync on positive grounds. To learn to control your subconscious thoughts. The negative thoughts someone has only does harm to your mind and is completely unnecessary. The good thing is you can easy learn to train your mind to look at and to approach at a positive manner. That positive vibration you send to your mind creates such harmony to your soul. Listen to music very often. Not too loud or else your ears will hurt and you will lose some hearing. Headphones messed up my ears since i was like 13. Once your mind feels relaxed from worries of the daily life at 99.99% of the time. then you've understood how to approach every single thought and situation in a positive aspect. Your Mind and Soul are very powerful things if learned how to use correctly. mediation. The realization tat we are spirits who merely vacate a body. We are all gods seed. And such beautiful creatures. One day mind over matter will conquer the body which will allow our bodies spirit to manifest, If learned how to control. and that is after Humanity goes through the spiritual enlightenment. You see, we are walking gods, but nothing close to god. Why? because we are made of him. He gave us such luxuries you wouldn't imagine. But we've been at a constant downfall. Spiritual enlightenment is a positive upbringing to what is supposed to be our true form. know that we are souls stuck in a body in a horrible physical world from what humanities corruption has brought. Know that that will not last at all. Humans will evolve to greater beings. It is there. Just waiting for us. So go ahead and start reaching. Cause the sooner you start, the sooner it will be brought. I have not even explained even 0.01% of life. For that takes a **** load of time. But i will tell you. Your mind is the biggest key to your self. Your thoughts CREATE who you BECOME. Literally. God created science so wed chase it down the rabbit hold. And some sure have. But until the government and society don't have such a hold on the human uprising, its up too us to make the best of what we cannot control.
If you want a nice spiritual exercise. watch this video by Bob Proctor on youtube. I suggest you be lying down in a completely silence room while listening to this cause it is a meditation exercise that will make you feel some typa way. Bob Proctors "Shift your Paradigm" meditation exercise.

First thing to know is that you are already that what you will seek through spirituality. That simply means that you don't have to go somewhere because you are already 'there' and you don't have to become something because you 'are' the thing.
Once settled with this fact, you will not be 'restless' to go somewhere and become something. This is the basis of spirituality.

Its not about spirits, not about the bagavad gita, not about talking god, not about reading the bible.
Spiritual is being non-material. But we are material beings you may ask!!! Thats true, so how do we become spiritual?
Well I feel that we have to be honest with ourselves. Whatever action we take, and whatever thoughts we have, is it really form us, or has it been influenced by the external? By society, by friends, by fame. For example, why do I like fine dining? Because the food is good? Because I love the luxury? Because I want people to see my wealth?
Even if were superficial, admit that we are!!! Whatever you answer to your questionings, just be plain and honest with ourselves. It's a good start.
If we cant even do that to ourselves, how can we be sincere with each other? Spirituality is being at peace by seeking truth. Thats my take.

Talk with a native american about spirituality. They were "one" with the "creator" and with "nature" for hundreds and hundreds of years before Columbus ever crossed over the ocean.
My grandfather was a Cherokee Indian and his mantra was composed of 4 parts:
1. Purify your mind;
2. Nourish your spirit;
3. Protect your body;
4. Honor your heritage.
Good luck to you on your spiritural journey.

Hi Lala - Would you want a boyfriend or husband who wanted to relate to you only ritualistically? Wouldn't you prefer something more vibrant and real - like a relationship where you ever more deeply come to know and love each other?

There is no" ritual".
You ask Jesus into your heart.You ask Jesus to forgive you from all unrighteousness.
Then you get a Bible and you read it.Ask Jesus to help you understand it.
If you don't go to church,you will never please God.Jesus set up the church.So not to go to church is to tell Jesus,"you ain't that important to me."The church is the body of Christ.We all have an important part in the body.<><

I kinda think "rituals" are what keep us away from God. I think just talking to him can do wonders. Not nessarilly getting on your knees and speaking in old english. Just talking.Asking Him questions. And listen for answers.I think sometimes those answers come in forms of questions. I think it helps alot it you are really listening for what he is saying and not what you want to hear.

Try setting time aside each day for prayer and study of His word....even some of the controversies. Make a goal to give a donation...somwhere.. however often you can afford. Talk to others like yourself, who don't want to be told how to think.
