As a Christian your compelled to spread the word and seek to bring jesus to all.
As a American your compelled to accept others beliefs and culture.
These things seem directly incompatible with each other.
Do you just KINDA talk about jesus, and then when they say, not interested you just let them be?
That doesn't really seem to be what Bring the word of god means. Seems like you should be somewhat pushy. But thats not American.
thoughts?

Ok perhaps a example is in order...
If you move to a city and you see your neighbor watering his lawn.
You ask about churches in the local area and he says he is a atheist.
If you press the issue about his beliefs your unamerican.
If you dont press the issue about his beliefs your unchristian..
so what do you do?

No, America is a Christian country, as much as i hate to admit it. Freedom of speech, religion and thought are just as non-existance as God himself. We just say it's real to make people feel better..Same with God.

I'm a Christian and an American, I spread the news of the gospel of Jesus, regardless if other Americans do not believe. I don't accept all other religions, I give respect but that's as far as it goes.
Edit~ I would get to know my neighbor and when the right time is upon us, I would invite him and his family to a church activity, i.e. a Sunday afternoon bbq with games for the kids. I would talk to him about what a blessed day I had received... not pushy... but in a respectful way.
Just because your belief is different then others, doesn't mean you are pushy if you talk about it.

As a christian of any nationality, all you can do is plant the seed and let it grow in its own time. No one can be forced to listen or believe. Christ doesn't force His way into anyones heart and a Christian should not be pushy. By coming on too strong, you can actually push a person further away from believing. So gently and politely plant the seed and pray that it will sprout and grow.

I'm one to respect everyone's beliefs, even though I may not believe in it myself, one aspect of the American way, but as a Christian, I am compelled to spread word about Christ. The hardest thing to accept when you're talking about Christ is that everyone won't believe you and you can't force them to believe. They would have to give an account to God for not believing.

we can not push the Lord down any ones throat. I do however some times wish we could
If we speak the name of Jesus to a man and he says no, walk away.if you speak in truth do not make them angry because you may have planted a seed and God will send some one to water it. they will be more open to the watering if they were not brought to anger by the planter
as an Christian/American I accept that others have the right to make their own choices that does not mean that I have to accept their ways into my life

Spreading the word is not incompatible with being tolerant. That is the idea of political correctness. We are supposed to keep our mouths shut so that we don't offend someone. This is nonsense.
This is America, and it is supposed to be a free country. We are all free to exercise our religion. If that offends someone, that's too bad. We need to be tolerant of the beliefs of others.

Why should it be? Iam a Christian Patriotic American. I love God and I love this country. I stand up for God and for my country. To me being a Christian and an American go hand in hand.

No they are not at odds at all. And you're not supposed to be "pushy" about Jesus. I do not convert anyone. Only God's spirit can speak to a heart. My best testimony is my joy in knowing Him and loving others. People are drawn to a joyful, kind person. That is what Jesus is and why He came, to seek and save those who are lost. It's not about browbeating others. It's about showing them His love.
