sealed: most accurate bass.

ported: emphasizes whatever frequency the port is tuned to sacrificing accuracy. Produces a few db more at the tune freq. Box size and tuning are fairly important but not too difficult.

bandbass: depending what order(version) you can get different results, but typically the least accurate, hardest pounding at the frequency the box is tuned to. The most difficult to construct and port volume must be tuned very well for best results.

It depends what style of music you listen to and what your exact driver is.

Here's a great spiel JL put together about different enclosures http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=141 check out the myths of the magic box.

My personal pick? Sealed, but I care more about sound quality than proving my stereo-penis is bigger than the guy next to me.

There are at least 7 different models of JL Audio subwoofers that can be called a W3. Which ones do you have?

Also, there are sealed boxes and there are ported boxes, but no "sealed ported" boxes.
