I have a hard time sitting still unless I am doing something Like praying, or being on the computer and for my mental and emotional health I like to say nice and busy and occupied, but is there a difference between sitting back, enjoying life and being slothful and lazy?

I was at a job (praise God I got laid off) where the clerical were REQUIRED to do at least 13 jobs a day and we had to document everything on a spread sheet and basically I turned into a nervous wreck and it took YEARS I left in 2004 to deprogram myself from that horrid menatlity.

So there are times I feel I cant watch TV because I am sitting there doing nothing but just being.

What are godly ways not only to be a human doing but be a human being? Life is too short to be stressed out and frazzled all the time. Thanks for your answers God bless.

I retired at 55, after a heart attack and many years with my own businesses.

For the most part I am happy. I cannot imagine SITTING and doing nothing!! What an absolute waste. I'm always doing something! Reading, messing around the house (although I don't have to do anything, as I live in a tropical paradise with servant to do anything I don't want to do). I enjoy cooking, having friends over. Chatting on the Internet, learning new things online. Going simple places, doing simple things.

Maybe I misunderstand your question, but to me being relaxed and happy is keeping busy, but only doing what I want to do. That includes prayer, often but not long or terribly concentrated. If you are bored, volunteer work is good, but don't tie yourself into too tight of a schedule.

I like people, so much of my time is spend amongst them, even though sometimes that is STRESSFUL, but if you set the rules, then you can leave and retreat to someone you enjoy when it becomes too much for you.
Good luck.

Nothing is godly. There are no gods.

However, "being in the moment" has nothing to do with being overworked. It's good that you got out of that abusive position. You have to take a step back and look at your life, and figure out what your priorities are. Then you have to learn to say "No" more, so that others don't take advantage of you.

I agree that life is too short to be too frazzled. This is the only life we have, so live it well.

If you're good at not stopping being busy, try the whole 'pray without ceasing' thing. Basically, just keep everything during your day in mind in the context of your relationship with God...like 'how is this significant in terms of my spiritual reality?'

Slowing down to a more peaceful, relaxed state with that approach is more or less inevitable. Sitting and pondering the infinite reality of the Divine becomes easier and easier as you do it more and more.

There is nothing better for a man, then that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of GOD.

Visit people in a nursing home. Write letters to people in prison; some of them don't belong there. Study another language. Write your own Bible study. (e-mail me and I'll send you one of mine) Turn off the TV and read. Make some cookies to give away.

Being in the moment simply means being aware of yourself at that time. If you want to be a human doing, then do. Maybe you should smoke pot.

Have you ever considered missionary work.

There are different things you can do at churches, and in your community.

You can help people, The poor, the homeless, the elderly,
youth groups, etc.

Sounds like distraction after distraction...not being in the moment.

Oftentimes I can relate to this. I have learned to take it easy. There is time for everything. Time to work and time to rest. : )
