I was reading about this the other day in an article. I wanted some imput from christians also. Personally I had always believed that we should pray to be relieved of our problems but according to the article sometimes our problems come to help our character. "We are to praise God in all things good and bad".

It also was refered back to the children of Isreal, how that God saw these people as a "stiff necked" people. They had complained about the journey to the promised land. They had disobeyed God.

Praise God for Life. Yes, it is all pre-ordained, and the bad things are there to straighten our character and devotion to the Lord. Don't forget, God let his only Son Die a horrible death on the cross for OUR Sins, which shows you that we all must suffer, but in the end, your reward is eternal life in Heaven with the Lord, God Almighty!

Yes, we should give praise to God not only for the good but for the bad. Things happen for a reason. We may not know the reason at the time or even in this part of our journey. Some things don't happen because God planned them that way, we as humans alter the plans God has for us. Praise God that we come to our senses before leaving earth.

I heard something similar on religious radio. To praise and offer each day to God and Jesus, "...all my joys, works and sufferings of this day". Yes, we should praise God and Jesus every chance we get. They are entitled to be praised, don't you think? for the good and bad in our lives. I praise God for the negative in my life because it makes me stronger. Hope I helped you a little bit! God Bless You.

Interesting. I think we should praise God for His presence and goodness in the situations we experience. Whether we're going through hardship or it's all gravy, I think we should praise God for His mercy and love in those situations. God knows the final outcome of our struggles and our successes. He's in control of it all, and so we should praise Him regardless of the current situation. It's a cliché, but it could always be worse.

Moreover, we are to pray for God's will to be done (as in the Lord's Prayer), not necessarily for relief from our problems (remember Paul's thorn in the flesh). But in my experience, God has resolved my problems an incredible number of times. We are to praise Him even if it doesn't seem like it's getting better.

His grace is sufficient.

May God bless you.

The bible instructs us not to be surprised when firey trials come our way, that trials produce character, perseverence and hope. I think the way to approach it is not "oh thank you that I just lost my job, Lord", but "Lord, I just lost my job, and your word says that you work all things for good. So Lord I thank you that you are a God of answered prayer, that I can stand on your word as true, and that you promise you will never let me fall. Please help me trust you and praise you, even in times that look, from my point of view, a bit scary". The point is to learn to trust God and thank Him for all He does, even when circumstances may not be going our way. Nothing ever comes into our lives that God does not intend to work out for our refining, and to His glory.

Yes, you should praise God in the storms & valleys of life. God puts us through things to get us through them. Every good & bad thing that happens to us happens for a reason & it is usually to draw us closer to him. We were made to praise & worship him... nothing else.

i dont believe that we should praise God "for" the problems, but rather that we praise God "inspite of" the problems

Habakkuk 3:17 - Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.

this is why its important we praise God not only for what He does, but for who He is.

Yes! It always helps me when I praise God in the bad times too! That is comfort for me and doesn't focus on the bad. It helps me realize that things in life happen for a reason but God is in control. Reminds me of the song, "His eye is on the Sparrow". In the song it says "Why do I feel discouraged" and we do get discouraged. But like the song says, God keeps his eyes on us and cares for us! Praising God helps us to keep our eyes on the true meaning of life.

I don't praise God for the bad things. I am Christian, and I personally wouldn't do that. And I think God doesn't give us the bad and negative things in our lives. I think we are the ones who are causing majority of the stuff that are negative. Even though we may not think we have done stuff such as a Death of a family member or being cheated on, then, it's just life. God doesn't do negative stuff to people. It cannot be him. If it was, I wouldn't be putting my faith into him.

I just heard a preacher on the radio yesterday who said that our trials are necessary to bring us closer to God. Without them, we wouldn't need God and we would drift away from Him. With these bad things happening to us, that's when we turn to God and pray for His help. It keeps us humble, so that we always remember that we can't do anything without God.
I believe also that God puts you through certain poor circumstances to mold you into the person that he wants you to be. You become stronger when you overcome something with God's help.
