I purchased a house that was built in the 50's. The original mahogany paneling is still up on the walls in the living/dinning room. There was only the one coat of stain put on the paneling and there's no damage to any of the panels. I purchased the house from my grandmother and I have about 2,000 square feet of paneling. I'm putting up drywall in a few months and I'd hate to just throw the panels away. Are there any places that will re-buy the panels?

The boards are tongue and groove, 4" to 9" wide, and 2' to 10' long.

I looked up Mahogany Paneling on line the best that I could come up with is a price value of 5.50-10.00 a square foot, that would make a 4 x 8 sheet of mahogany, thats 320.00 a sheet, because it's vintage wood. Wow!! It sure is beautiful wood. I would advertise it on craigslist or check with some of your local upscale home builders, to see if they are interested in it. I would also suggest that you let the buyer remove it from the wall, they will be extra careful as not to damage it.

It's free advertising
Also, you could take pictures of it and advertise it on e-bay
But, I still think that you're local upper scale home builders would jump at the chance to purchase this beautifu wood from you.

if it is a solid wood paneling you should have no problem finding a salvage company to take it off your hands. mahogany, especially old growth mahogany, is a very valuable wood species. if, however, it is the press board or masonite-backed product, with a melamine surface in a wood grain pattern, it will be harder to find a buyer.

Since there are no longer Mohogany forests the paneling will sell easily and fast. talk to your local lumber yard (not lowes or home depot) some say you should get about $60.00 per sheet in good condition, $80.00 in excelent condition for 4x8 paneling. tunge and gruve maybe more per foot.
