I'm an active person and a health freak on a diet -
but sometimes I feel like eating something hot before going to bed - or not necessarily hot but food.
I have those fat free sugar free jell-o packs, they contain like 20-40 calories in the whole thing .. so if i eat half a pack how does my body react to these calories ? like am i gona gain weight ?
or eating shredded wheat cereal .. 100 calories 0.5g fat and no sugar 20g of carbs...
I always been confused about eating before bed ..
and I burn more calories during the day than I eat .. i just wana make sure it wont affect my weight loss eating 40 calories and no fat or sugar ..
Thanks everyone

the amount of fat free mass that a person has will determine how much or little the variation from the resting metabolic rate to the sleeping metabolic rate. the more muscle that a person has the less the decrease.

as the day progresses the carbohydrate intake should always decrease as for most the level of activity decreases so an abundance of carbohydrates is not needed. for most the first 3 meals could be protein/carbs and the last 2-3 meals should be protein and fats.

if preserving muscle mass while reducing body fat is your primary goal I would always eat some form of easily digestable protein 30-45 minutes before going to bed

I don't think such a small amount of calories will do any harm. I think the reason why people started thinking eating before bed was so bad is because you are not doing anything physical to burn off those calories - just laying down and going to sleep. Whereas, during the day, you eat and then give yourself time to burn them off.
Hope that helps a little at least!

jello is just empty calories. it wont make you gain weight but theres MUCH better options. i suggest eating little to no carbs (try to get under 15 g) before you go to bed. cottage cheese is great bc its high in protein. its casein protein so its broken down very slowly, which is ideal for muscle mass building. also finding yourself a good protein shake can do wonders. shredded wheat is ok. i dont know what you do as far as working out though. if your trying for mass building then the shredded wheat is ok. 1/4 cup steel cut oats is even better, mayb with some splenda. its not the calories, but the quality of the calories that really count. good luck hun!

ive looked at your other questions and youre in a dangerous situation.from your pic you look skinny enough and 130 is about as low as a guy should be.my boyfriend is 5'9 and 135 and he looks wayyyy too skinny.but its just his metabolism.he eats like 5 or 6 big meals a day and takes in about 2 or 3 times as many calories as me.you really are a good weight.go look online at a BMI and im sure youll be either just fine or a little underweight.trust me.those calories are fine and you need at least 1000 calories a day.you know anorexic doesnt just mean not eating? it also could be eating a little and exercising wayyy moore.i had a friend go to rehab for that.you dont wanna go down that road.if you want more help or wanna talk you can always email me at atlantatwin1228@yahoo.com or IM me, my sn is AtlantaTwin02. but you really should eat more..i know i didnt answer youre question but i wanted to let you know what youre doing is dangerous.

If you're burning more calories then you're eating I'd say don't worry about it then. When you eat before you go to bed, the calories don't get burned off. You take them with you. It is better to eat a dinner, and have a snack before bed and when you're still running around the house busy, than right before bed. It really isn't a good idea to eat and then go to bed. This sounds like a habit?

Hello Ramzi,

When you go to bed you are placing a self imposed Fast on your body.

As long as you are Burning more calories than you are consuming through out your day then the BMI (Body Mass Index) will continue to slide in your favor.

It doesn't matter when the calories are taken in they will be consumed when the metabolism speeds up the next day when the Metabolism is Kick started with breakfast.

I hope this answers your question...
