Well, the croutons and cheese aren't great. Is it light cheese? What type of cheese?

Have you ever tried balsamic vinagrette? That's a bit healthier than ranch, although light ranch is an improvement over regular. Try to limit the amount of dressing- it's very easy to overdo it!

Onions and mushrooms are great! Pile them on along with carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc!

Instead of croutons, try broccoli slaw, slivered almonds or pine nuts for crunch.

Chopped green apples, grapes, and dried cranberries are also yummy options.

Chickpeas too!

Salad is only healthy if you use mixed greens. Iceberg lettuce really has no nutritional value. You should leave the croutons off the salad but add lots of fresh veggies and protein to the salad.

Many of us are salad fans and this relatively easy to prepare dish is already ingrained into our tastebud's memory banks. LOL.
Yes, it is the salad dressing that everyone has an opinion on. Yada yada.
"That ceasars dressing is full of FAT "!
"But I like the dressing !"
"Believe me, it is full of fat !"
"OK what about the blue cheese dressing? I like that"
"Hah !, that one is double the fat !"

Sigh. As you know, using the vinaigrette and olive oil every single day is BORING.
Make your own dressing so you know how much ingredients to add.
Change or modify your salads daily.

Yeah, just dont load down with the dressing and cheese. It will defeat the purpose.

Salads are great for you. But NOT the salad dressing.
