Since it has only been a week that you applied and were denied, you might contact them and ask them to reconsider.
Be sure to ask that they use the same report and not pull a new one - that way you won't get another hard inquiry.
Plus, the phone bill probably won't show as being paid or be removed that fast.

When you talk to them, tell them about the phone bill being paid and if they want, you can fax the proof to them.

If they say no, hang up and wait then call back and speak with another CSR. Or you might ask to speak to an underwriter.

There's no guarantees that they will approve you on a recon - but it does happen. Especially when you can prove the reason for the denial was taken care of.

It can take months before the account is marked current by the credit bureaus. But can it only be a single phone bill????

You must be using the Gestapo phone plan. Unless, ahem, its Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T as they're over agressive.

However, you need to ask for a copy of your credit report. You should get a letter from Circuit City telling you how to get that credit report for free.

Otherwise you're entitled to one free credit report a year.

If there's things on your report you don't know anything about, maybe you've been the victim of identity theft. Or the credit bureau made a mistake.

Without checking it out yourself and merely trusting a mindless group of nutballs like the credit bureaus, you're only hurting yourself.

Better look and then make sure its accurate.

Asking for a copy of your credit report can take longer then actually getting your computer. Still, you need to get a copy of your report. While doing so, go to a sub lender. A sub lender is a lender who will loan you money but at a higher interest rate. It will get you the computer that you need. Once you have a copy of your credit report try and contact the phone company and make arrangements to pay your bill so it can come off your report. In the mean time pay your loan on time with the sub lender. The trick to beating any high interest rate is to pay the loan off before the scheduled term of the loan ends.

I know this because I work in a bank.

What U have to do is contact the credit reporting agency: Experion, Equifax etc & have them remove the discrepency. You should receive an explaination [letter] from the agency that denied you credit. They are the ones to show them that you paid your deliquent account. . . Enjoy your new computer & PAY ON TIME. . .
