he's a deep chested 100 lb dog. my vet has done blood work that shows nothing usually. his weight is ideal. he'll go a wk or two with no problems, then he could vomit for a few days in a row, before he's back to normal. when he's sick he vomits once a day, won't drink water and won't touch his food. (he never is bloated) acid reducers have helped somewhat, but he can't be on them long term. i just started giving him gastri calm, to soon to tell if it'll work. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

A very good friend of mine had the exact problem with his Rottweiler. Every detail exactly the same, except he was feeding some other low grade food, I forget which one. He completely solved the problem by feeding his dog small meals throughout the day. I don't know if it is possible for you to feed your dog every 4 hours or so, but it worked for him. He still only fed the daily amount recommended for the dogs weight, just in small meals. The vet couldn't figure out what was going on with the dog and why this worked, but it may be worth a try. Good luck.

That sounds serious. I pray it has nothing to do with the recall Have you tried the Blue buffalo dog food for your best friend.
It is an excellent prooduct. I have read testimonials from people who have dogs that throw up alot, until they started feeding them the Bluebuffalo. you can read these testimonials at www.bluebuff.com and or petmsart.com.
This food has a life source bit that contains over 20 different natural antioxidants that protect and clean the immune system and keep it free of environmental toxins that might be in the immune system. There is a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. It is only available at Petsmart. They also have canned food. DONT WORRY THEY ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH MENU FOODS AT ALL. the food is made in ohio.

Pedigree dog food again I really think they need to pull this Crap off the shelf If you read any posting on here about Pedigree they all say the same thing Blood work normal, vet not sure, wont drink wont eat. We tried acid reducers too it didn't help in the long run it was his pancreas which caused him to get many other sickness in the end his pancreas damaged stuff inside which in turn caused him to get leukaemia and he was eating Pedigree my other dog is no longer on Pedigree for that reason.

I would seriously consider another opinion from another vet, There has to be a reason for his vomiting that isn`t showing in blood work, it seems further testing would be appropriate to get to the cause and treatment for his condition. If ur dog won`t eat or drink, he must be in discomfort at these times and u need to get to the bottom of the problem...change vet. is my suggestion.

Hmm... that sounds excessive.. I would get a second opinion.. It doesn't sound normal at all.
You feed him onions, garlic, chives ??
He isn't on any medications for any other conditions?
Does he seem to throw up in the morning or anytime thru the day?
No other symptoms .. diarrhea, swollen glands?
Is this something fairly new, or something that he has done his whole life ?
Sorry... I just read your update.. It's likely the crappy Pedigree food.. Corn and all the other crap in there. I would change his diet, nice natural food... See if that makes a difference.

Hi ok i would change from pedigree immediately. i used to feed my dogs that. biggest mistake of my life. their eyes sunk in and their coats were dry and brittle and when i found out it was the food i changed that day. i feed our dogs Nutro Natural Choice Chicken Meal Oatmeal and rice for sensitive stomachs. it is for puppies so it does have a high calorie intake but that might not be a bad thing because your dogs is constantly vommiting. try the other natural foods as well. good luck!! check out my australian cattle dog/ border collie mix at www.myspace.com/daisymaetheacd

Does your vet any any idea what it might be? Are you always feeding him the same thing? Is there something he could be getting into? Why can't he take 'Tums' long term? There shouldn't be anything in there to cause him problems.
This might sound strange, but you might want to start trying daily massage, especially in the stomach and bowel area...if he has gas or something is wrong in the intenstional region, then massage may help. If there are massage therapists in your area, see one of them, or try it yourself, but be very gentle. Long, slow strokes are best.

What kind of dog food are you giving him?
If it's one of those brands that has been in the news -- Iams, or Purina -- don't give him any more.
In the meantime, get a second opinion with another vet.
For now though give your dog table food, he may be able to hold that down. This link will show you how to make good meals for your pet:

Good luck!

My dog had the same problem. We kept asking the vet what was wrong with hert, they just told us she had poor digestion and nothing could be done.

I would say that your dog probably has a weak stomach. Do you give him/her a lot of treats? Maybe the food is overwhelming for your dog. Our dog ate one food that had a lot of fiber and it gave her a lot of gas...Maybe something similar?
