How would I get him out of prison? Like post bond? Yeah, I'd do that for my best friend, although I suspect my feelings would change a bit.

I wouldn't break the law though.

After researching the immigration laws more thoroughly, find some legal loophole that would allow my friend to correct the situation legally. Since he is not yet in prison ("the govt had not found out yet") there are many legal options available.

This may entail a voluntary surrender and pleading to one or more misdemeanor immigration charges, to avoid a felony conviction. But that's nothing new in the legal system.

Of course I would help him out, since when is being illegal take away the privilege from someone to be my friend? That would be VERY judgmental and wrong. It's not up to me to judge whether they are illegal or not. That's not a factor. Being an illegal immigrant is to me as someone who got a fine for speeding, it's a crime for necessity, not for evil. It would be another story if it was a pedophile or a murderer.

I doubt I could actually become best friends with someone, then find out he is illegal. I mean, I don't hang out with people who can't speak English and live with 14 other people in a 2 bedroom apartment.

If I suspend reality and play along.... well, once I found out I'd turn his sorry a.ss in.

i would not help him/her get out. i couldn't trust the person to pay me back. if they new what they was doing was illegal, then they should have come here legally. good luck with your friend.

I'll tell them to head home, I'll come for a vacation in a year or two to visit, and let them know how angered I am that they weren't honest with me. Actually, if they lied to me, then they really wouldn't be that great of a friend to begin with.

Report him. He still broke the law of our land.

First of all if that person is in prison, he or she is a criminal.

Deport her or him and be done with it.

If he's doing time, he's not my friend. My friends are law abiding people. I don't associate with criminals.
