Where does that come from?

i know what it's SUPPOSED to mean? but why bananas? where does it come from

It comes from the original saying"Ape ****",Like "He went ape ****".It was intended for people that did not want to say the word ****.

maybe it relates with monkeys.. crazy as a monkey perhaps..

Have you heard the saying Banana Republic? Its a name people use to describe 3rd world countries. U think they say banana coz the people are like monkeys?

i think a sort of rhyme..............there are soo many words this newgeneration has included in english vocabulary that most of the words dont have any precise and appropriate meaning.Any wayz "gone banana" means "gone crazy".
