Yes, you can eat the rinds, but you'll find them pungent and bitter. Here are some thoughts: Make a sugar syrup of 2 cups water and 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a boil and add your rinds. Boil for 30 minutes and remove from heat. Place on wax paper and let "dry". You'll end up with candied rinds for baking and munching on!

Citrus rinds are great and have been used in teas and recipes for centuries.
If you look at loose teas like orange spice , there will be dehydrated pieces of orange rind and even dried citrus fruit sections.
best to use organic though as commercial grown produce is saturated with pesticides, and fruit skin is very porous.
Grapefruit rind could be used in tea just like lemon.
Try adding spices like clove and cinnamon sticks
Cheers

Eat away! The rinds are great but the pith is not. What I mean to say is that it is not as nutritious as the actual skin and it is bitter. If you are eating an orange, for example, you can eat the whole thing but if you were to use your Swiss Army Knife and cut away the pith, it would be much more enjoyable. Make sure to carefully wash your fruit before eating the peel. You know how people get sick on lettuce, spinach, etc. and are told not to eat anything that can't be peeled in third world countries? Well, it's not just the spraying of contaminated water for irrigation, but also the many hands that touch your citrus before it reaches you..from farm to store to that little boy picking his nose who cuddles up to the oranges. Just wash everything before you eat it!

I don't know about eating all of the citrus rind but, I do know that the pith or white is very nutritious. You could probably use the rind in a tea for a nice flavor. Buy it organically grown, though, because of pesticides which does cause cancer.

There could be pesticides that have been sprayed on them to keep bugs off...the grated rinds are called "zest" and are used in small amounts of various recipes, like breads, or fruit salad type of things...
One time 60 minutes did a story on pesticide spraying of citrus in Florida...and they said it was so prevalent, that it was in the groundwater there...I don't remember the name of the pesticide...

If you brush the citrus, it should be okay. Remove the pith, it is neither nutritious or delicious and scrap it off . It's great for your breath.
