Ask her to go to a coffee shop with you, or at least stop and talk to her in the parking lot a couple of times.
Then say that although you don't know each other very well, you two would have a GREAT time at prom together!

well start by saying hello..if u want to date her ask her out to the movies or out to eat... but if u only want to ask her to the prom... just ask hey do u have a date to the prom yet? she will either say yes she does.. or she will be soooooo happy a guy is asking to the prom... good luck...

yeah, why not...you've got nothing to lose....if you like her but you don't want her to be all weird about it...tell her it's platonic and you think you guys could have a fun time :-)
