It's just changing. See the problem is that after WW2 when US became a Superpower their was no one to compete with them including other western powers. The only challenge to the US from 1945 to 1990 had been Japan. But now that communism is basically gone & India & China have some to faster growing market economies in the world the American Empire now has serious competion for the 1st time since 1945. Now the question is are Americans prepared to take on this new heavy competition or not?

The US has never been an empire.
It has done more than any nation in this world ever to help people.
The American people are the most giving people ever.
I do believe though, the US is in for a hard ride over the next ten years. If it survives those years, it will remain. It must, and I repeat, must draw the manufacturing base back to its shores. Too much dependence on foreign products is destroying it.

The U.S. was never an empire. As far as its power goes, it's probably more powerful as other countries become weaker. It's actually a race to the bottom and not a race to the top.

If you want falling empites look at Germany and Italy, both of which have twice the death rate of Iraq in 2006.

i think of this is. And the subsequent one would probable be China. yet i'm hoping that till now it falls, there'll be a potential stability between the US and China or in spite of usa follows. the applicable concern for the international is while there are 2 or greater countries with the two stress and not purely one. because of fact ONE ultimately starts to have faith that they very own the international and that they are able to attack any usa every time they desire, as this is been proved.

ask yourself this - if the american economy collapsed - what would the worldwide effect be.

if you think, as i do, it would mean worldwide depression - then america is every bit as powerful as she ever was.

could be that our most powerful weapon is at yet unused - our economy.
