I'm breast feeding and I haven't gotten my cycle since my baby was born ,(last Nov.) and I'm experiencing all the signs of pregnancy. In Feb. I took a couple preg, tests and the result was so light I wasn't convinced of a pos. or a neg. answer, so I waited & repeated again in March, I got the same result. And just this past week my signs of preg. are so nausiating (hint, hint) so I took another test and it was Neg.! so I'm wondering can the hcg hormone be altered because of breastfeeding? & cause a wrong result on a preg. test? (please note, this is not my first baby and with my other preg. i had gotten my cycle by now!!)

No...hCG levels are not affected by breastfeeding. The developing placenta begins releasing hCG upon implantation; a pregnancy can generally be detected with a pregnancy test within 7-14 days after implantation. Nursing will not affect your result.

I would go with a blood test at this point, which is more reliable.

Breastfeeding doesn't interefere in the accuracy of home pregnancy tests.

"34. I'm breastfeeding. Can that affect my pregnancy test results? No. While lactating women do produce various hormones, none of them cross-reacts with pregnancy tests. A breastfeeding woman can use a pregnancy test and expect her results to be just as accurate as a non-breastfeeding woman. Using urine, that is. If you dip a pregnancy test in breastmilk you may obtain a false positive result. Stick to pee and you'll be fine."

HOWEVER a blood test is by far more accurate. And if you are feeling ill it may be time to see a doctor anyway.

Well, it shouldn't affect it, but no system is perfect. I would get a blood test to verify.
