As a soldier I am more than qualified to answer this... Firstly.. we go to a war zone.. Iraq, Afghanistan etc.. not for anyone else. This is what we're trained for, and if it keeps terrorism away from our shores, it is worth the bloodshed. King David (in the old Testiment) was a soldier. Killing in war isn't murder. We look after eachother. The man either side of you. because they look after you. On the front line there is no thought of Queen or country. only the mates standing with you against the common enemy. Maybe people think we die for them, WE DON'T. We die for our fellow squaddies. if we can keep terrorism away from the western shores and innocent people, then we are doing our job well. We just wish that normal people could support us instead of disowning us. We didn't ask for this war, We didn't start the war. We are pawns in ther political chess game. All we want is for our countrymen to support US, even if they don't agree with why we are here. We need to feel that we are appraciated at home!

Please tel me if I am right or wrong, but it has always been my understanding that when a person join the military they are doing it for their country?
This in NO way makes them GOD, they may be a god to someone. the Bible clearly tell us that God's true followers are no part of the world.
Matt. 26:52: "Jesus said to him: 'Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.'" (Could there have been any higher cause for which to fight that to safeguard the Son of God? Yet Jesus here indicated that those disciples were not to resort to weapons.)
Isa. 2:2-4: "It must occur in the final part of the days that the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains...And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears nto pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore." ( Individuals out of all nations must personally decide what course they will pursue. Those who have heeded Jehovah's judgment give evidence that he is their God.)
Luke 6:27,28: " I [Jesus Christ] say to you who are listening, continue to love your enemies, to do good t those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you."

good Q and no...but they do get there earthly honor...personally i would not die for my country...and i have my reason the main reason is because i do not worship the country in which i live in. of course it is the honorable and patrodic thing to do...but from where i stand as an idividual...it is a earthly thing to be honorable and patrodic...i would die for my God...but there are standards there too...i would not die for my country that is in a relgious war just as the one going on now...Christian against Islam, i am Muslim...but the genre of this war is because terrorists seem to think that they have the right to play the role of God and take the peoples free will...i am not interested in taking any ones free will...i have my own free will to keep in line little lone to worry about some else's. i wish my evil counterparts felt this way...but at least there are other Muslims who are not interested in taking free will.

i'm not sure how you came to the idea that they become god, but personally i think they're dying for no reason. I feel for their families. wouldnt those soldiers be much more useful protecting us in our country that attacking another country and causing civil war? They went to war on the belief of weapons of mass destruction and there isnt any there, they're now arguing that what they did is right as they've freed the people, but what they've caused is civil war on the streets of iraq, how free are those people who are affraid to leave their house incase of an attack of a suicide bomber?

Jesus only had to die for us because God couldn't just forgive everyone for how he made them. Soldiers die so that we can have safety, and freedom and our homes and families can live without the fear of invasion. Soldiers deaths have more meaning than a man created to be martyred.

Soldiers do what they are told to do depending on their governments belief at that time.....they do not die for 'us'.
Some misguided soldiers do believe they are GOD when they are doing inhumane things to children and women.
I have seen the aftermath in BOSNIA...........and it still goes on and on and on all over the planet.
Then there is 'FRIENDLY FIRE'. Glad they are no friend of mine!!!
It is their Government that think they are GOD.......

American soldiers invaded Iraq because God told G.W.Bush to do it.--That doesn't make soldiers God--it makes them stupid for following the orders of a religious nut case.
