my ex partner has TOLD me a woman i don't know WILL be godmother to my unborn daughter. as far as i kno this woman has never been christianed, and i've been told she doesn't even live in the UK. does this mean she cannot be godmother? sounds harsh but im hunting 4 a loophole so as 2 aviod yet another argument with him

we both agreed we wanted godparents, and i'm a religious person so...go figure.

Can't speak for the denominationals, but in the Catholic Church a godparent must be a baptized, confirmed, and practicing Catholic.

Most parents make these kinds of choices together on who the godparents of their children are going to be. Here's a thought, why not just forget about appointing godparents. There's no point in them anymore because the role of godparents are to make sure the child's raised in a way that glorifies God. Do you see that happening now days? Godparents are completely archaic.

All I do know is a God-parent HAS to have been Christened. My daughter found out not long a go when she wanted her son Christened.
Good Luck......and as far as Im concerned, If you and the childs father are not in a relationship and the relationship you have is none exsistent, it would be none of his business who you chose to be a God-parent, but that Im afraid, is my personal feeling.
