Yes. My husband's '98 camaro has the 3800 (3.8L), which is a V6. It has power, yet it will get 30 mpg on the freeway. (Low 20's with city driving.)

in the 80's some camaros came through with 2.8 v6 engines. someone at gm must have thought this was a good idea?

There are lots of camaros with six cylinders. Most of them began in the 90s.
