The ability to speak and write in English, properly, is one of them. You just failed: it is "qualities", not "quality's".

Qualities of a good pilot:
1. Good decision-making skills. You should be able to make confident, well-educated decisions quickly and deliberately.
2. Modesty. Know your own limitations and never exceed them.
3. Determination. When you decide to achieve something, do what it takes to get it done.
4. Curiosity. Have a constant desire to know why and how things work.
I could go on and on. If you've always dreamed of flying, been fascinated with flight and aircraft, and always wished you could know what it feels like to be in control of a machine that flies, then you have what it takes to be a pilot, as long as you meet the medical requirements (talk to an aviation medical examiner to see if you do.) Anyone can fly an airplane. But it takes a special kind of person to be a GOOD pilot.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE 20/20 vision. You are so wrong ROBERT M. You need to have glasses or something to help your vision if you dont have 20/20 vision. EVERY ONE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A PILOT. It might take longer for some people because of money. It is not that much. I have payed $14k and got the following licence
1. Private pilot licence ($4224.53 (ground school is wtih)
2. Instrument rating ($4422.38 (ground school is with)
3. Multi engine ($2546.60 (ground school is with)
4. Commercial pilot ($2605.23 (with ground school)
NOTE ALL PRICES ARE FOR THE TAMPA BAY FL AREA!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cessna 172 Sky hawk would be a lot easier to fly than a jet. It will take any where from 3 weeks to 9 months. You first thing you need to do is to find flight Training near you. You will first need to get your Private Pilot. That will cost about $4224.53 with ground school. Then comes Instrument, instrument is the hartes in my mind. Instrument costs about $4422.38 with ground school. Next my favorite is Multi engine. It is about $2546.60. Then comes commercial pilot. It will cost about $2605.23 with ground school. This is a place in Tampa that I am getting this information so the prices are for Tampa bay. All together it is about 14k.
This is for the US.

You need the have the ability to think outside of yourself. by that I mean...." I realy need to get to denver butt" then weather is somewhat questionalbe. you need to be able to put aside you wants and look at a situation in such a way that its almost hindsite. Should the guy have taken that flight. You have to know your limitations. By asking this question I would say that you are off to a good start.
Also depending on what you want to fly you have to be able to think VERY quickly and make the right decision. Planes are forgiving. the engine quits in cruise flight and you can think about what to do. In a helicopter is this happens you have about 1 second to take the corrective action.
Best of luck

I believe Nick S, cut to the cheese and hit the mark. Having said that I would add coordination, i.e spacial skills and ability to multitask. That's a physical thing that I would put first but Nick has identified the mental aspects that will keep even the most coordinated pilot alive.

the best way to find out I think is to go up in a small plane with a Flight instructor a lot of flight schools have a flight half price for first timers who are considering Piloting. The specifications to become a pilot is to be able to Read, Wright, and Speak the English Language to get a Private pilot's license (first level which allows you to fly a single engine airplane in VFR condition(Visual Flight Reference which means you have to be able to see 3 miles and the cloud have to be so hi ect). for your privet pilots license you must have to fly with a flight Instructor a minimum of 20Hours you can start this training at any age but I wold recommend you be at least12 then after you get your 20 hours in you go to the next step and you have to fly solo for a minimum of 20 more hours you have to be 16 to do this stage between you will be taking studies on the ground. you have to be 17 to get your license though.
But I would totally recommend it flying is the best I started flight
training at12 and have some hours tucked under now, it may
sound like a lot but it's worth it.
It costs about $6500 to get your first license then you can go Instrument, Commercial, twin engine ect... depending on if you want to make it a carrier or just a Hobie it generally costs about $106 to rent a plane with a flight instructor WET.
But defiantly go for it you won't regret it I'm 14 and have flown quite a few times and can't wait for the next time.
Hope this was of help
if you have more question just e-mail me:nealthepilot@yahoo.com
P.S.Check with your local flight school for there rates and training you can look them on the web and in your phone book

My cousin is a pilot, and he said most of his copilots don't even know most of the country's location.
So you better have the knowledge of the world's continents and stuff.
