My friend's child has eight godparents, and I am one of them. The baptism (Catholic) is coming up, and there will be a reception afterwards for 60+ family and friends. What should I bring/give?

there is a painting of a Guardian Angel helping 2 kids across a bridge. It is a very beautiful painting. You can find it at any Christian Store.

How about a small collection of religious board books? They have children's books about Noah's Ark, the birth of Jesus, etc. You could get a few and put them in a little tote bag or something. If you have a Marshall's or TJ Max near you they usually have lots of books like that.

Another idea would be a children's bible, although since there are eight of you someone might already be doing this.

I gave my Godchild a small cross to hang in his bedroom....I got it from an Irish boutique.

Anyway, congrats on being a Godparent and have fun at the reception. I hope these ideas help!

Since there are 8 godparents (I'm Catholic & never heard or saw this before), most likely one set will give the gold cross --it'd be good to share this info so everyone knows & the baby doesn't get 4 gold crosses! The other best gift is a savings bond & give according to your means.

8 god parents? in the catholic church? very unusual. usually the godparents buy the baptism gown. if they already have it, you could get a cross for their room, or one on a chain for them to wear later. some buy a baptism medal that hangs on the crib. they should be blessed by the father at the baptism. if you wish to stay away from religious items, a pretty picture frame for his baptism picture or a photo album is nice and savings bonds are great too.

A savings bond....you will need the child's social security number.....it is a gift that will go thru the years....and will be money they can use later and still remember you...I did this for my grandchild's baptism.
