I'm a single mom and my bills are more than my income. On top of that I'm having a lot of problems at work and am worried I might lose my job. Sometimes I just want to run away from my life. It just feels like my troubles are going to swallow me whole. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Oh yes. Here is one thing I want to mention about work--not sure what your problems are, but this is some advice that was once given to someone I know:

a) Don't "make waves" if you can help it. Try to just go there, do the work, and go home. Things may not seem fair or equal or people may not be kind, but ultimately, think of the basics--why are you there? Go there and do the job and then go home to your family. If there is still a problem, might want to have a talk with your HR department (while remaining calm). But again, not sure what the situation is.

The reason I say all this is b/c it is easy to get caught up in other things that may get in the way of the job. These may be situations, gossipy people...anything. Try to stay focused and face reality.

b) Remember--your real life is at home. Take the time after work to relax and de-stress. If that means simply watching TV, better to do that than to worry. Do something to clear your head.

c) Bills--have you tried to get a loan or make payments on them? Maybe somebody can help you out? Is there an agency you can contact? If not, all you can do is to do your best, right? What will they do to you if you don't pay for a while? It probably is not as bad as it seems. It can be overwhelming to us all at times, yes. Everybody has their hand out. But we manage the best way we know how. What else can we do?

d) Have you tried contacting a doc to obtain some anti-anxiety meds? Just a thought. I have not done this but I know somebody who did and it sure helped a great deal even though the stressful situations didn't change. It just made the person better able to handle everything.

e) I hope you don't mind this suggestion, b/c it helps me--pray. God has never let me starve in the street. He always provides for myself and for my family. And when things have seemed depressing and hopeless, I prayed to Him, and everything did turn out okay. And though there may be a day when everything is not okay, I know that He will be there to help me and watch over me.

These are just some thoughts that I had. I'm not an expert, but just your average person with some experience in these matters. Hope I helped some.

Yes. Don't focus on all of the situations at once. Try to deal with them one at a time- and before you know it you may start floating for a while!
