Flat (more surface adhesion area), wood glue and little aligator clips to use as clamps until it dries good.

The round ones are less picky about orientation since they do not have a weaker flat side. I would use a wood glue and proceed slowly (even applying heat from a hair dryer) to make sure the glue is dry in a one section before going on to the next. "5-minute epoxy" is strong but has a pot life that would be annoying since you would waste most of each mixture after you put some of it into place.

The old fashion wooden flat sided toothpicks are the best with wood glue and as was mentioned alligator clips. What ever you do, do not use a glue gun. It will only hold for a short period of time, seems to dry up and poof-no bridge. (been there done that)
