Which is better for a 10" Type R to mount it? What is the difference in mounting it inside out like I guess what you call isobaric? I only have one in 4.5 cu ft vented box.

You can mount it in either direction. ("Isobaric" doesn't mean reverse mounting; it's a different type of setup using two subwoofers). The only real difference is that if you mount it with the magnet on the outside, it will create slightly more air space inside the box since the magnet and basket structure won't be taking up space.

I assume you have the Alpine Type R subwoofer. 500w RMS.
I would mount it the normal way. Having the magnet facing out of the enclosure the sub can get damaged easier. The reason some mount the sub magnet out is for show. I have tried mounting them both ways and in my case they sound better mounted in the normal way. Hope this helps.
