Struggling with the choice of sling-style patio chairs or the solid type that have seat cushions on them. Both test out comfortable in the store and the prices are similar. Do the cushions hold up to occasional rain? (we live in the pacific nw)What are the pros/cons in your experience?

Foam cushions are best for weary butts.

I agree with George that cushions are much more comfortable if you sit outside a lot. Can you find chairs with removable cushions, so you could put the cushions indoors if it was going to rain? I definitely wouldn't leave them out to get wet/moldy.

I found the solid type were more versatile, in that you can put them around a table, older folks can use them and if your really stuck at a big gathering they can come in doors. As far as durability that depends on quality of material and workmanship

I think I'd go with cushons for comfort, but after a while the rain would start messing them up.
