Static in the hair is caused by a dry air mass over your area. By that I mean that the humidity level and dew point are very low. Any rubbing or combing starts static electricity that can give you a mild shock when you touch a metal object. To moisturize the air in your home, you can install a humidifier or leave a kettle of water simmering on top of the stove allowing the steam to go into the air. Within an hour, the static will be of little bother. The use of laundry sheets are suggested, but by using one, you are also releasing the ingredients of the sheet onto your hair and may irritate the scalp, causing it to itch. Moisturizing the air is your safest way. When you are out and about, carry a small spray bottle with you filled with water. Set it for a mist spray and use it sparingly on your hair. You can even dampen the comb before combing. Static cannot survive in dampness.

I have static hair too. I've put cold water on it, I use hair spay, I've used a dyer sheet, and I even read that if you use a t-shirt instead of a towel that would get rid of it, But NOTHING!
So one day while I was in Wal Mart, I stopped and asked the hair stylist. She told me the only thing to get rid of it, was gels, moose's (and I KNOW I didn't spell that right) but leave in conditioners,spritzes.. that's all you can do.

Try using something like biosilk in your hair after it is dry. This adds a bit of moisture and calms your hair down. If you need something now, running a dryer sheet over your hair works just as well and just as fast. I know it sounds silly but it does work. I've done it myself.

hairspray contributes to global warming
so pls dont use it
this is better:
put on conditioner and leave it on for one day
then rise some off
the next day, wash all of it out
this also helps with dry hair
i do it 3 times a week
and my hair is the silkiest hair anyone has every seen
no kidding!
good luck

i read in one of the beauty magazines that you can take a laundry fabric softener sheet and wipe it down your hair and that should get rid of static. i tried it and it does work.

Suave makes a really good shampoo as well as conditioned caller Sleek in an orange colored bottle. Wal-Mart should have it.
It's about two dollars a bottle.
It worked wonders for me.

It could be your blow dryer giving off static. Try a new one and you should get different results.
