What do you usually do to cover up when you feel awkward or guilty? (doesn't have to be big deal!)

If I caused it....

I avoid covering it up if at all possible. I find it far less painful and awkward to just take ownership.

When I take ownership, like 'Did I just say that. I'm sorry, that was an incredibly (tacky, insensitive, rude) thing to say." - people are quick to forgive and forget. Then I don't have to worry about it any further and they are alot less likely to share my indescretion with others. In fact, you often win their respect simply by owning up to it.

Don't get me wrong, I've certainly turned tail and run before! I didn't discover this aproach until I was in my 30s. And I'll tell you what...It makes it alot easier to sleep at night.

My face or my mouth. I usually try to hide behind my hands.
