Because it's the uneducated that can be manipulated and persuaded to follow lies, and myths easier than those that are educated, 99% of religious followers fall into this category, and that is why religion is so successful all around the world today.

Because the bible says that the meek will inherit the earth and that it is easier for an elephant to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. because man is to busy chasing after his own selfish lusts than to seek God. In the usa we have something to fill every minute of our lives movies, video games, pornography, beer, parties, cars, all of our wonderful toys and no time for God. God said you shall have no other God's before me. You shall not make for yourself a graven image. Love the Lord your God with all your heart. You see when you have nothing, heaven sure sounds like a nice place and living for Christ isnt so hard. but when you have all kinds of toys and lusts for more what do you need Christ for right. we dont think about it until its too late. I bet there will be a whole bunch of suprised people in hell.

The word of God brings hope. Who needs hope more than them. The lack of good education does not necessarily mean the people are stupid it says more about the failure of the government than the people who are born into those circumstances.

because Christianity tells you to give up the things that the world sees as important and follow Christ. the less you have, the easier it is to give it up. its easy for the poor to be humble. would you give up your arrogance for humility? i doubt it

Poor people are more apt to have the sense to realize that they need God. Too often the arrogant fat belly doesn't realize it's need until it is dying.
