Children wet their beds for different reasons. If they're younger, it's just because their bladders arent fully developed and the message system between their brain and this function is not fully recognized until they get a little older. In some older children, it may be because they have an over active bladder, because they sleep very soundly and don't recognize the signal that it's time to go. As for emotional factors, some emotional factors can cause children to wet the bed, for instance, insecurity can often cause a child to forget about the need to go to the bathroom because he is concentrated on his other problems. If the child is afraid of the dark, they may also avoid getting up during the night, even if there are night lights, and fall back asleep-causing the need to go to the bathroom worsen (the bladder can only hold it for so long).

There is one major reason why children wet their beds, not because they want to, it because the body signals the brain when its time to go to the bathroom, and children all the way to the age of 12 might not develop this sense it takes time and patience. One way to help the child out is but setting an alarm every night at 2am so the will wake up and pee then they start to make it a regular routine. Emotional if they are struggling emotionally they are stressed or scared they will not wet their beds, when they are comfortable is when it happens.

Sometimes if kids are abused (Sexually, emotionally, physically) it can cause them to wet the bed. They don't do it on purpose. I'm not sure of the link, but if you know a child that is doing this I would find out what is going on.

Children wet their beds because their bladders aren't fully developed.

some kids are abused and are afraid to get out of bed at night to go when they wake up for fear of making noise and waking their abuser . Then when they wet the bed the are beat and so the next time they wake up they go and still get beat because they are out of bed so they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Poor Babies
