According to the Samsung web site, it does support 720p and 1080i through component, DVI and HDMI. Since your TV has 900 horizontal lines, 720p would probably look best on your TV/monitor.

It appears it will not support 720p and 1080i from a computer. It basically supports 4:3 and 5:4 resolutions with the exception of supporting its native resolution 1440x900.

the answer is both yes and no,it doesn't draw the picture through interlacing, but instead it draws the picture through progressive scanning.even though 1080i has more pixels,720p draws the picture at twice the speed, that's why some tv stations use 720p over 1080i,because faster motion shows such as football looks better on 720p.all 720p tv's can output a 1080i picture, they just convert the picture to progressive, and all 1080i tv's can convert a 720p into a interlace picture.that's the way hdtv's are designed.

First, you don't have a TV (A TV needs to have a tuner).

Second, your monitor is not even 16:9 (its ratio is 1.60:1 vs 1.78:1) .( It has more lines (900) vs a traditional 720p HDTV (736), but not enough (1080) to make it as a 1080p monitor.

Second your monitor is not outputing a signal. It takes an input signal and tries to fit it in the available pixels. In principle, it can accept both 720p and 1080i signals. In both cases, it will make its best effort to fit it in 900 lines. Since it is only 19", it should make little difference to you.
