Doing what YOU want, especially if it's against everybody else (or mostly) is the greatest way to assert yourself. You could assert yourself in worse ways than just letting your hair grow.
When you're a teenager, you need to assert yourself in order to develop an interesting personality. Maybe you're a leader type of personality and you need to make up your own mind.
Some people do not need to assert themselves because they may be followers, and will agree with the majority...or follow one man, one like you, who stands out in a crowd.

The funny thing is that down the line, in 20 years or so, you may look at the pictures of yourself with your long hair and wonder: "what was I thinking?" but by then, my guess is you will have become an interesting person.

All 16 year olds go through the same stage. You should wear you hair the way you want to not unless your getting a job and they require it cut. Have your picture made with your long hair and believe me, in another five or six years you will sit back and laugh at the whole deal. Have fun, your 16 and you won't be that age very long. Good luck with your hair.

You may want to look deeper into WHY they are saying this to you before making a decision on the hair cut.
Whether you like it or not, your outer appearance says something to others. It's the first thing that strangers size up about your personality. You may think your hair gives the message that you are unique, you're a rebel, etc.; yet, you may be sending a message people are interpreting differently-i.e, you're unkempt, you hide behind your hair, etc.
The good thing is that hair grows back. If you do take the hair cutting advice and you really hate it, just let it grow out again- no harm done.

Well, obviously, your hair, your call. However, if truly EVERYONE (parents, siblings, good friends, classmates, neighbors, church members, grocery store clerks, - everyone- thinks you should cut it, maybe you should ask "why?" Do they think a shorter cut would be more flattering to you? Or are you maybe working with hair that shouldn't be long? (Thin? Split ends to your scalp? Does it get a shampoo often enough? (I had very long hair for years, and maintainance is very trying and time-consuming.) Or does your hair end up with everyone else? Their food, clothing, face, etc.? Do you "play" with it? Flip it back from your face/shoulder? Chew on it? Twist it constantly, absently? These things may be clues. OR, if your hair makes Rapunzel's look short and blah, THAT explains many of the women's positions.... Either/anyway, still: your hair; your decision. Good luck!

I am a Hairstylist and my only answer is are you happy with your hair the way it is." Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"

Here are however some ways to tell if it is too long for your face shape. If you have a more round face the shorter you go with your hair the bigger your face will look. If you have a long face this will actually improve your appearance by cutting your hair to just below the chin length. If your face is oval you won't have a bit of trouble and it is just simply "your decision" remember, whatever you do just do it for you not to please others because if not, girl you will hate the change trust me.

You're 16... who cares if you have long hair? Do what you want... of course don't expect to get a good job with hair like that, lol. People like their employees looking sharp for their customers. Unfortunatelly, the world is based on looks. So do what you feel is right... if i had a kid and he had long hair i'd want him to get a hair cut but do what you want. Why would you want to be miserable because someone else wants you to do something? So rock on my friend, rock on!

Take a good hard look in the mirror. Does your hair style REALLY look good on you ? Does it suit you? Are YOU happy with it? Do YOU think that you look attractive like that? Does your hairstyle make YOU feel handsome? If you can honestly answer yes to all these, then who cares what other people want? Do what makes YOU happy! Life is too wahot to live for OTHER people!

You may want to get your long hair professionally styled. If you like your hair long, there are a lot of good looking hair cuts that would look cool.

Truth hurts but here it is! If almost everyone is telling you to cut your hair and you consider them as friends? Well sweetheart, listen to your friends. Listen only to those you trust as friends and if they are telling you that you might look better with short hair then you know they have your best interests at heart and, you never know they may be right? BUT! It is your hair and its your choice; if you really love it that much keep it.
Either way God Bless you Darlin

If you're keeping it clean and well brushed, there's no reason why you shouldn't keep it long. A warning, though: You're approaching the age where you may be looking for a first job. Many places will not hire a boy with long hair. It's unfair, but I've seen it happen.
