You call the President of your church a prophet, seer and revelator but when was the last time he proclaimed, "Thus saith the Lord?" and made any kind of prophecy? As a seer he was fooled by Mark Hoffman and false documents. How can this be if he is truly a seer and is supposedly being lead by God?

Joeyfarlz,
Excuse me......do you not believe what is written in your book, "The Pearl of Great Price?" In that book is the story that was proclaimed by Joseph Smith when he supposedly saw God and Jesus Christ and it was during that vision that he was told to join NONE of the current religions for they were ALL and abomination and their creeds were ALL false. So, it is your church that has blackened its own name through its history of polygamy, knocking other religions because you claim that no other church has the truth but yours. Spiritual wifery, when Joseph Smith claimed rights to other men's wives in the name of God. Raising a private army that threatened the security of Illinois. The hatred that the church had for the government. The Danites, all these things can be easily found in your own church history. You might try reading it sometime instead of being lead around by the nose and not thinking for yourself.

For Watnote,
From what I've read of American History, then reason the Mormons were driven out of their homes etc. was due to the behaviour of your people. Joseph Smith himself who set up his own army. Did this not cause concern for those communities? Why was there a warrant out on Brigham Young? Why did the Mormons then come west? Because if they came west far enough they would be out of the reach of the government and its authority. The Salt Lake Vallley was NOT part of the US back in 1847. You claim murdered men, women being raped etc. What about Mountain Meadows Massacre? That whole incident where every man, woman AND child were killed for NO reason other than they were from Missouri and traveling through Utah to get to California. What about the Danites, a group of murdering Mormons who were sent out by Brigham Young himself to slit the throats of those who weren't living the way Brigham thought they should? How do you justify that? It is part of your own History.

I was LDS for the first 28 years of my life. I was trusting that what the brethren said was the truth. I believed that their place in leadership required them to receive direct revelation from God. Then I starting questioning the church these type of question built on my doubts when finally my faith in the church in Joseph Smith could bare no more and it all crashed. Thank God he sent a "Stephen" to my door and used that wonderful man to lead me to the real Jesus Christ.. Jim

There is no specific wording a prophet of God must use when he communicates the word of God. Everything he says isn't necessarily straight from God, but we can learn to get confirmation from God if we have any question about it.
When someone becomes a prophet of God he doesn't suddenly turn into someone incapable of making mistakes; however, as Jesus taught, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone..."
A prophet is a man called by God to be His special witness on the earth. A prophet speaks for God, with divine power and authority. He:
- Communicates God’s will to all people.
- Is a special witness for Jesus Christ, testifying of His divinity.
- Teaches the gospel and interprets the word of God.
- Calls the unrighteous to repentance.
- Receives revelations and directions from the Lord.
- May see into the future in order to warn the world of coming events.
I'm convinced the current President of the Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, is a prophet of God, and I for one will listen very closely to what he has to say.

I'm not Mormon, but I've caught lots of Christians saying they prophets from the lord, and it was all a lie. I don't believe people hear his voice, cuss I've seeked for his voice for 6 yrs and he is very silent to me. So if I'm having a hard of a time to hear his voice. I know others can't be hearing it. All Christians have failed my test on them and give wrong answers. Its like they create some kind of witch craft God. I know God lives. I've seen some pretty scary Christians out there the way the profess God. I can look at a phykick and get the same thin. only difference is one u have to pay for the babbling bull crap, and the other tries to give it to me for free.

Prophets do more than prophecy. God does not always tell His prophets what they want to know. God does things HIS way, not OUR way.
Just because God does NOT tell one of our prophets or apostles something they want to know, does not mean that they are not prophets. It means that GOD is running things, HIS WAY.
Read the "Proclamation on the Family" for a "thus saith the Lord" moment.

Read what he has spoken to the church, since he was called as a prophet. Read his conference addresses, and listen to them tomorrow. I have done this, and I have seen my life affected according to how I lived what he has spoken. He may not always declare striking things that revolutionize how we see the world, because God is consistant, and He only provides such striking revelation when it is really needed. The rest is more subtle. Test his words as I have.

You mistaken our prophet for a fortune teller.
A prophet is a spokesman for God, he does not need to prove to you a non believer that he is a prophet.
"Why gave the pearl to swine" I say.
As for the church history part, why don't you mention the part that lands were taken away because they are mormon, they are driven out of homes, their father , husband or sons are killed, the women raped, because they are mormon.
So its OK for you guys to killed and murder, and its not right for Mormons to defend themselves. Is that what you called justice, or what you called freedom of religion???
