Christians believe that God is eternal by nature, therefore unlike material creation, there never was a time when God did not exist. Orthodox Christian theology holds that God is, was, and always will be-- as I said most Christians believe God is eternal, without beginning or end. The universe, according to Christian theology, was created, which is one of the primary differences between the nature of God (eternal) and the nature of creation (finite). The universe had a beginning. God, in his eternal nature, had no beginning, he has always existed. You do not have to believe this, but in order to make your argument, you need to represent fairly the precise claim that is being made.

Chrisianity is like anything else one has faith in, and often because of experience. I know it might sound silly to a non-believer, but when we say to God, heh, I realize you a Great and SMart and Good, and so I know if I never get married or have kids etc, I will still know that your choice for me was the best. ANd then say I couldn't have kids (would have killed me not to),then God always replaces it with something you'd never dreamed of that is even more special than what you thought you lost. What if we do believe in God, shouldn't web be extremely thankful that the sun comes up each day, that would make our lives miserable without it, you think it is bad when the electricity goes off, how about no more sun ever. It is a faith based issue . You have things you have faith in and others don't believe in it. It is also like if you had good parents and learned to trust them because they did what was good for you, then you have faith in them and as a child, even tho you don't want to brush your teeth every day, you learn to trust them and have faith that what they ask you to do is for your own good. A spriritual journey is like a friendship with anyone, it is alway developing,

"Who made God?"

To one who examines the evidence, there can be no doubt that God exists. Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker. The fact of the existence of the Creator is axiomatic (self-evident). That’s why the Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’" (Psalm 14:1). The professing atheist denies the common sense given to him by God, and defends his belief by thinking that the question "Who made God?" can’t be answered. This, he thinks, gives him license to deny the existence of God.

The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.

The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.

Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.

God always was, He is without beginning or end. I use a different answer for the universe because God made it; it had a beginning and it will end. I dont see how this violates my own argument but prehaps I am misunderstanding that last part.

The THREE main characteristics of God : omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient. As it relates to your question, the one we're most interested in here is omnipresent :- present in both time and space. That means that God has no beginning nor end.

But if I apply this characteristic to the universe, then logically, I must apply the other two as well. Would you say that the universe is omniscient?

A person above said, "Every building must have a builder," as a proof for the existence of god.

However, he fails to apply the same logic to the supposed god himself. If he did, then he would be denying the omnipotence of the supposed god.

And that is where every christian fails. Their beliefs are indefensible.

These questions were already asked and answered many times over hundreds of years. It's silly of you to claim that they "never ask" when there are entire treatises and tomes on the subjects.

1. God is eternal, therefore without begining or end, and was not created.

2. The universe is not eternal because God created it. Therefore it had a begining, and quite possibly will have an end.

Your statement "You people constantly violate your own argument" would be true if and only if "god" and "universe" are the same thing. It is evident that Christians do not see "God" and the "universe" as being the same thing. Therefore it is not necessarily true that they are violating their own argument.

They might be contradicting your argument though... that is if you claim that the universe is uncreated.

Half a dozen replies when I answered this and not a single answer yet. That's pretty sad.

You pose a good question though. I wonder if any of the Xians will actually give you an answer, instead of insulting you and arguing semantics

Christians don't ask who made God because Christians know the word of God. God is alpha and omega. He has no ending and no beginning.

We don't have an "argument". There is the bible and a Christian believes it is the word of God. Or should believe it anyway. If someone else chooses not to....that is up to them.
