Depression can be an imbalance in the brain or simply a result of circumstances. I was depressed a lot at your age and I think it was because I was distant from my parents. We rarely talked meaningfully. Are you a Christian? Pray for God to help you. I found that what gets me out of depression is to focus on someone else's needs. I used to help out an elderly woman and that made me feel so much better. Inviting a friend over who needs help with a subject your good at and many more such examples. Also, talking to someone you like and trust. Sometimes others go through the same thing and you could find encouragement there. I would not go to pills unless you really feel they are needed. The pills do work, but often they only mask the problem without getting to the root of it. God bless you too.

Seek counseling. You are still young and they can help you figure out how to deal with all of your emotions and what is causing them.
Excercise certainly helps you use energy and gives you time to think and put things in perspective and it makes you feel good also.
You can talk to your parents or a school nurse and they can help you find a counselor. It's not like going to a shrink or anything scary, just a counselor that is easy going and can help you realize what is going through your mind and causes your emotions to take over and how you can handle it. There are both physical and mental effects when you are stressed and you need to learn how to take care of both when you are feeling down.
I get very emotional as well, either good or bad. Learning how to deal with it when you are young is good as those skills you learn will grow with you and help you feel the best you can.
I think it's probably very normal for the feelings you are having, but you do need to do something about it. I think how you handle this now will make a huge difference later in life. Don't wait before getting help, everyone needs a little help now and then.

One thing that does help me though, is I have a pack of cards, kinda like tarot cards but they have the meaning written right on them and pictures of Unicorns. When I am feeling down or worried, stressed, etc. I ask a question or make a statement, like "I am so worried that ____, or what am I doing wrong, etc. whatever I am thinking about. I close my eyes and ask God this question and ask him to show me the answer, then I pick a card from the pack. The answer always seems to help me during these times. You can do this and wait for a sign or an answer from God, but I use the cards because sometimes you just need to see it right infront of you to know that is the answer. It doesn't have to be God necessarily, anyone that you trust and put faith in. Someone that you know will never lead you wrong and will always help you. Even your mom if you don't feel comfortable really telling her how you feel right now. This helps me because after reading the answers I always know what I need to do to feel better, the answer is right there.

Try to keep your blood sugar level by avoiding too much sugar/carbs. Eat little meals through the day
(blood sugar changes cause mood swings/fatigue)

Stay hydrated (dehydration causes mood problems)

Multivitamins (certain vitamins help mood stability)
C, D, E, and the B vitamins can all help energy levels

Sunlight (try to expose yourself to natural light as much as you can by opening curtains or sitting outside. Indoor lighting doesn't offer the same benifits as natural light)

Sleep (taking naps can do wonders for you, even if you don't feel tired relaxing for an hour can recharge you)

Vent creatively (Art, music, sports)
Exercise increases stamina and elivates mood.

Herbs (some herbs can help, but also interact with other medicines and surgeries, so only go into those if your doctor says its okay)

If you do end up at the doctors have them check your Thyroid. My sisters was enlarged and that was a problem, once they fixed that she wasn't as depressed.

Try to take a deep breath and leave the situation an go into a diff room where you can calm yourself down. Just for other stress an depression try involving yourself in somthing that is positive like feeding the homeless, or geting involed in a sport that will keep your mind off of things, if you can do that try drawing a picture.

exercise does help a lot but you really should talk to your parents about this. they'll want to know. 14 can be a really tough age and when you have these feelings it only gets tougher. talk to your mom and dad or maybe an older sister or aunt. i wish i had done that when i was young. i'd have saved myself a lot of problems. good luck to you. feel better.

i would talk to a doctor, or your school nurse. There are prescription drugs that would help you.
