I have seen the president of your church in the past making church changing "revelations" (Giving blacks the priesthood, Change the temple ceremony). Not one of these "important" changes are added to your cannon. But a statement of someone named Oliver Granger being held in fond remembrance is included.. Who was this guy, can you honestly say that you, or the church as a whole for that matter remembers him at all let alone fondly.. Is that more important to the church than the more recent changes, unless of course your cannon is indeed closed. If it is then you don't need a prophet...

No one wants to answer the question. It is just so you remember:
Not one of these "important" changes are added to your cannon. But a statement of someone named Oliver Granger being held in fond remembrance is included.
Unless you want to start to defend everything Brigham Young said from the pulpit admit that your cannon is closed and no more data need to be added to your doctrine. Then you can study and be taught according to what is there. Christian hold the closed Cannon of the Bible up as our scale by which we can measure a teacher. You have to except anything your leaders say without question because they can add to or take away any doctrine they wish. There is no way for you to KNOW if they are being faithful or not. You have no standard. no Iron Rod.... Jim

You are putting yourself in a hard place. BY in talk given in General Conference talk about the inhabitants of the Moon and even the Sun. He said all the celestial bodies were created for inhabitants. The Catholics trace their authority through anti-popes I guess you can tracer yours through a false prophet or two... Jim

Today again on the Sperry Symposium the Mormons were at it again. Attacking the Bible. They were trying to show how much it's been changed by evil men.. where as their books are so pure. The Book od Mormon has been changed 1,000's of times and it's only been around since 1830. The Bible is still pure in it original languages. And the good translation were brought to us by honorable Godly men that saw their work as a sacred trust. No the words aren't the same in all translations but the meaning of the originals is there. We have God's word as He intended, God it NOT a liar. He promised that Heaven and earth would pass away but His word would never pass away.. Either it is still trust worthy or God lied, I say it's trustworth... Jim

Just because all the Mormons on here are telling me that the cannon is open and every word pronounced in Conference is scripture I will add the conference report to your standard works. This mean however that the Journal of Discourses is also Holy Scripture and the Mormon people must believe in MOON people.. They must believe that Adan is their Father and their God.. If you don't believe these things then you MUST acknowledge that your cannon is closed. And all you get from your leaders is teaching out of what is already in your scripture,,,, Jim

What can you say of a religion that not only has contradicted the Bible (no matter what translation) but continues to chart a course of apostasy?

I apologize for not knowing what you mean about this cannon. I have never really seen a set cannon besides the scriptures. Our prophet does continue to warn us about things which will damage us physically and spiritually. He leads our church through revelation, and although God's gospel remains true and unchanged, so it does not need to be continually revised as you are saying we should, President Hinckley receives revelation from God for God's church and his people. I believe that a sincere study of accurate sources i.e. full transcripts of his talks as well as the Book of Mormon will lead you to understand his role more than any cynical (meant in the true sense, not the collowuial connotation) questions.

I have deleted my answer. Not because I have changed my mind or ashamed of it, but because I now realize answering this question will do no good. I initially answered your original question in trying to promote understanding. Only afterwords did I read your additions, and realized that you are not interested in understanding.
I know my Father In Heaven lives. I know Jesus is His son, my elder brother and Savior. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church here on the Earth. I know that the Spirit has testified these truths to me, and I know that God the Father and God the Son know it also. And I will never deny them.

NO WAY!
it has been anounced in the past that other books will come forth.
but for now, all men must seek out the best books and follow the truth, they must study and pray and always be humble. There are too many LDS mormons who are proud.

I didn't even realize the Mormons had a cannon, much less one that was still open. Isn't that dangerous?
FYI, a "canon" is a body of religious texts.

For accurate information about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, please reference www.lds.org. I think you will find a general answer to your question there as it regards the topic "scripture". To answer your specific question, however, no, the "cannon", as you call it, is not closed.
