You have to have faith and truely believe in God, but why disregard God and religion in general, it is the ultimate sin and result in an unpleasent afterlife, why risk eternity? I am talking of all faiths and religions, i truely believe every religion can learn from each other and is lacking something that another isnt. I am not saying to believe in god just so you dont go to hell-that is why i said "you have to truely believe in him and have faith" For you scientist let go of your pride to many things cannot be answered. every theory comes down to probable bull ****, start at every theory and ask yourself "then who created that to happen"

Please let go of all selfishness and just ponder the idea. no converting going on here just some brain food.

ill be honest i do not go to church every sunday, i drink and i dont contribute 10% of my income. i live life and i feel there is a new breed of angels out there that are accpting god and jesus in the way that really matters

There is no life after death. The idea is completely absurd and goes against everything that is known in the real world.

What do I gain from not believing in God?

I get to sleep in on Sundays. I can even drink on Sundays. I can have sex recreationally without feeling guilty. I don't have to give 10% of my income to a church. The list goes on and on.

How many time will this stupid question be asked? Look at your own reasoning and you will get an answer. You could only get to the answer if you stop thinking like a scared little child that is going to get punished if he doesn't do what is father tells him.

From this question we know you are motivated by fear so you are the government's easiest controllable citizen. You probably voted for Bush because you were afraid of the big bad terrorists.

If someone only believes in God because they have "nothing to loose" then its not true salvation and they go to Hell anyway. People don't believe in God because they don't want to be accountable to anyone or anything. They would rather go on in life doing whatever pleases them without having to feel guilty about something, or having to do something just because "its the right thing to do" unfortunatly this thinking is wrong and is even worse, than plain out hating God. It says in the Bible, the WORST thing is to be lukewarm.

Because it's all a lie and believing that lie leads to the Dark Ages, Inquisitions, illiteracy and social decay.

You don't really think that Democracy and Capitalism were developed by believers, do you?

Both concepts are as opposed to religion as anything I've ever encountered in my life.

But if the person only "believes" in God to save there eternity their afterlife wouldn't be saved at all. He will know and can weed out false Christians. He's God.

First, with so many different definitions of God, it is unlikely that any one of them is completely accurate. But you already mentioned that you think there is at least a kernel in each.

Still, if each is partly real, then perhaps those looking for rationalism, and rejecting God may also have a kernel of truth, looking for evidence in which to believe.

Do you worship all gods because you don't want to risk eternity? Does that include the Flying Spaghetti Monster. You want to cover all your bases, right? Just in case. *wink wink*

Does Baal know you're worshipping Allah?

I think Thor may be jealous that you're worshipping Ra.

And I KNOW Yahweh is jealous and insecure that you're worshipping Zeus.

It doesn't work, does it?

Your argument is ridiculous and I feel embarrassed for you.

1. Many religions seem to have this "believe in THIS religion or you burn" thing. How's a guy supposed to pick?
2. If I believed in God I'd have to believe that an infinitely powerful being is so vengeful and hateful that he allows my son to have autism. I can't reconcile the existence of a loving God with what I have seen on this Earth.

What I have to lose is my intellectual integrity, which I value above all other things. I am a scientist, and go where the evidence leads. Since there is no evidence of god (either for or against), I have no inclination to believe in such a thing, and it is provably useless to do so. You need to do a bit of research on Pascal's wager, and why it is bogus.

Why would someone not believe in Santa, what do you have to lose? You have to have faith and truly believe in Santa, but why disregard Santa and the North Pole in general, it is the ultimate sin and result in *no* presents, why risk that?

[Edit]: Pondered (13.7 picoseconds) and rejected for the same *no evidence* reasons as always. And please do *not* tell me what I "have to do". You look foolish, and I won't do it anyway.
