Well, somebody has to raise the child if the parent isn't doing so.
However, if said parent is cognitive enough, they should be allowed some say in who does raise their child. Provided, of course, their suggestions are safe for the child.
As for someone to take a child from a parent because they don't like the religion (or lack of) that the child is being raised in...no, they can't take a child for that reason alone. The only way that would be possible is if the belief system in question caused physical or some other type of harm directly to the child.

If this is really and truly only about religion, then, no, absolutely not. Grandparents have no right to raise your children in their religion and they should not win in court unless you belong to some kind of cult that abuses others or yourselves. I really hope you and the grandparent can reach a compromise and all share in the raising of your child. I could not stand to not ever be a part of my grand children's lives.

It's wrong morally, and it's wrong in countries with freedom of religion, but if you live in the middle east it's probably fine with the government-depending on the grandparent's religion.

by default, NO,
but it depends on the grandparent and what allegations of Not raising a child actually means.
many of the poorest saints lived in poverty but the love in the family was thcker than blood.
while on the other hand many families of wealth dont even have blood.

Absolutely, no one has a right to take your child if you are giving it enough to sustain its life, hopefully that will include love which is all the religion it should to be taught. The best teaching is by example.

Well..bad actions with good intentions I suppose. They shouldn't try and take away the child because you wont raise the child to their religious expectations, but you shouldn't deny your child the chance to grow up religious. (granted that's what your doing.)

They have no legal standing unless there are some other issues, such as your spouse died and you are not their blood descendent, or you are a criminal or drug abuser or child molester or financially unable to care for the child.

The answer cannot be given with a 'yes' or 'no'.
Every situation must be treated individually.
What are the particular details?
