I received an open container ticket in Las Vegas. The ticket was a 5 point violation on my license but according to the New York DMV out of state tickets cannot add points to your license. Las Vegas is now saying I have to take 3 traffic classes or I could have my license suspended or a warrant for my arrest. Can they really suspend my license if I am out of state?

Request from the Las Vegas court that your traffic class requirement be transferred to NY. All the states are linked on computers, as are insurance companies. Otherwise, you'll have to go to Vegas for awhile.

They can't do it, but they can ask YOUR DMV to do it. And since most states are in a mutual compact regarding driver info, and agree to uphold each other's laws and penalties, you are likely NOT off the hook.

So go take some traffic classes. See if you can do it online, should be easy to do that.

Most States have non resident violator compact agreements.

They will suspend your license in your home State.

all the info in in one database. if you get stopped again, you could lose your licence. take the classes. you don't want to lose you licence.
