I was a 19D. Cavalry Scout. The M2 Bradley was designed as an Infantry platform and the M3 is the Scout platform. They have the same hull, same turrent and weapon system. 25mm autocannon back when I was in. 240C machine gun in the turret and a TOW launcher. The M3 had the machine gun ports removed, they have plates over them, so the hull had the capabilities. Instead we packed the M3 with alot more munitions and supplies than the Infantry. Really the only differences was the firing ports being covered and that we had alot more TOW Missiles. We had additional radios, seating for only two scouts in the rear. Where infantry sits in the M2, we had LOTS of mines, ammo, food and other gear.
As a scout of the time, I didn't like the M3. It replaced the M113 as a transport, which I didn't care much for either. But my main problem with the Bradley as a whole was that it was made to look like a light tank and that made us Scouts a more prestigious target. A scout wants to be ignored, overlooked and then forgetten about. Not a primary target. I was also bothered about reports I heard when I was in service that the Bradley armor would burn when hit the fumes were poisonous.
This is all from memory. So if I made any mistakes it is because of the passage of time.

I got this from a History channel board, take it for what its worth...
The M2 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) and carries 6 infantry troops... The M3 is the exact same chassis but it carries only 2 scouts and extra equipment such as radios, telemetry, etc and is denoted as a CFV, or Cavalry fighting vehicle, thus it has different ammo on board and more of it for fighting armored cavalry. Both have the 25mm Bushmaster, an M240C (7.62) machine gun and TOW/Dragon/Javelin Missiles; configurations depend on the situation. The only noticeable difference according to that site is that the M-16/M-4 firing ports are absent on the M3, and from my own deductions, the M3 would have 4 anti-tank missiles rather than 2 like the M2 because of its role.

The M2 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) and the M3 is an Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (CFV)... the M3 is primarily for scouting / reconn missions.
The M2 holds a crew of three: a commander, a gunner, and a driver; as well as six fully equipped soldiers. The M3 mainly conducts scout missions and carries a crew of three and two scouts.
The firing ports on the side of the vehicle were elimiated on the A2 and A3 versions due to the additional armor.

The M3 is a little shorter in length than the M2. The number of Radios are different and the troop area is smaller in the M3
