Well, surprise! The Indian Anthem "Jana-gana-mana" was first written as a poem by Rabindranath Tagore in *Bengali* under the title "Jôno Gôno Mono" ("The Minds of All People"), and only later translated into Hindi.

And for the Tamil people? I guess they do as in other multi-lingual societies like Switzerland, Belgium and Canada, they have official translations.

The Tamil people sing Jana-gana-mana in Hindi. (Although i'm sure it is with an accent!)

Im not sure.. I thought all of india sang the same national anthem despite all the languages present.
