I think my first experience with a sufferer of Oppressed Evangelical Syndrome came last year when I was seeing a two-man show of "Dr. Faustus" in Virginia.
After the show, the director came out for a Q&A and said that he had changed Faustus' supernatural powers to purely scientific madcappery (overly complex machines that serve no purpose whatsoever, etc) to display the "arrogance of modern science." He said that he was an Evangelical Christian, and he felt that the scientific community was "oppressing" Evangelical Christians in that you have a tough time getting a university job if you... believe that the universe is 6,000 years old.

the bible clearly states the creative 'days' are not 24 hour time periods but are easily creative epochs. @ 2Peter3:8 However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
When will you people get it through your hard heads, just because FUNDAMENTALISTS, do Christian belief serious error by proclaiming that the creative days are literally 24 hour days, the rest of reasoning from the scirptures c;learly shows that the universe,earth, sun ,etc. are easily billions of years old.
I visited a so-called atheist website, and was not to surprised that they unfairly lump all bible believers into the fundamentalist category.. You ignorant atheists are just as wanton and careless with your claims as the fundies.

You have a tough time getting a university job if you believe that the universe is 6,000 years old for the same reason that you have a tough time getting a university job if you believe the earth is flat.
Professors are supposed to be smart.

Hey, pollywantacracker: if the Genesis days are epochs, why was man created in one epoch, then the animals, then woman? That doesn't hold up to scientific study. read the bible if you want to call yourself a Christian.

Not really, but I "persecute" ignorant Evanglicals. I give lectures and discussions that they can't understand. I own them in debate.
