Hey this question made me laugh. Yes you statement makes a lot of sense. Spirituality is the end result of experiential wisdom. The belief in a God is based on fear of pain and suffering. Christianity is running away from the fear of pain while spirituality comes from discovering your true self.

Once you understand the reason for man's existence you have no need for a God to validate your reason for living. More to the point you come to terms with you power as a living being. Yes life is a gift that can only be fully realized by living in present time. Religion's cause you to live for some future promise by given up your power to live as a fully self deterministic being today.

Spirituality doesn't have anything to do with Heaven and Hell. Heaven and Hell is a state of mind, not a place. Not all spiritual people even believe in the concept. I think true spirituality is for those that have rejected the entire polarity of Heaven and Hell. Once we get out of the notion of reward (Heaven) and punishment (Hell) we are finally ready to evolve away from religious dogma and truly become spiritual beings.

I believe in a literal hell, but I wouldn't put such a negative bent on things.
Christianity is for those who believe, that even though we are so bad as to deserve eternal punishment in hell, our God is so good as to send His only Son, that is, His very heart, and allow Him to bear the full consequences of our sins in His own person through the suffering of death on the cross, to redeem us and reconcile us and restore us to a condition where we will be able to live forever with Him in the glory of His Kingdom.

A silly statement. First, define spirituality? And many Christians have also experienced "hell on earth", or whatever you mean.

I don't think so. I think we all live in a hellish world and some people seek a way out any way they can. Some do it through Christianity; I do it through atheism. I believe that only by being faithful to the truth and to logic and morality can we overcome the hell of this world.

I don't think Christians give much thought to Hell at all. They are to focused on their little piece of fantasy La La Land of eternity they don't have time for anything else. That's the way it was for me when I was a Christian any way. As for Spiritualist they are a bunch of kooks who set around lying to each other and anyone who will listen about their phony magic spells.

Yes I agree because Heaven and Hell are places on Earth. Just look at the "World" around you.

I've lived in hell and it didn't increase my spirituality- just my cynicism and bitterness.
