Did it ever turn out a totally different color than what it was suppose to? I was trying to dye my hair back to it's natural color (I didn't want to wait for it to grow out...now I regret it!) and it turned out maroon! It was suppose to ba a dark brown. Do you think the company (L'Oreal) will do anything to make up for it?

Sounds Like Your Hair Was A LOT Lighter ThanYour Natural Color And You Probably Used FERIA By L'Oreal To Recolor It.( Feria Is A "PURE DYES" Color, Which Means It Has "No-Base" (Background) Color So It Is Not Right For Dying Gray, Bleached OR Very Light Colors To A Dark Shade) If This Is Right, You Can Fix It Yourself By Bying Excellence Creme (Excellent Gray Coverage) In A NEUTRAL Or ASH Brown And ReColor It. Good Luck!

Yes. The same thing happened to me. In fact, I had someone ask me, "Is your hair purple?" and they weren't trying to be friendly either! I have red hair and used a med. brown shade, but the two tones together turned out kind of maroon/purple. At that time, I decided to go darker to cover my red with a dark auburn but I think it still looked pretty fake. You can call the L'Oreal number on the box. They will tell you if you can recolor or remove the color and start over. Sally Beauty Supply stores sell hair color removers also. Good luck!

I do not think the company will do anything to make up for it. The color result you get depends on the length of time you leave it in. The directions are usually for people who are only coloring their hair a shade or two lighter or darker. Also, when you color your hair, it depends if it is your natural or colored hair color. Are there cool highlights or warm highlights in your hair...that makes a difference whether or not you get reddish tones. Maybe the company will send you a coupon or something, but next time, if it's becasue you are trying to save money...I recommend just spending the money at a salon to color your hair. It's more likely it will come out good, and if it doesn't they'll most likely fix it for you and they shouldn't charge you for that.

I dyed (or tried to) dye my hair blond once and it turned out orange. I later dyed it back to brown. It matters what brand you're using. I wouldn't exactly use L'Oreal because the stuff they have is kind of cheap. If you want to MAKE SURE that your hair color will turn out okay, go get it done at a hair salon. Also, don't buy your hair dye at Albertson's or a grocery store. Buy it at a hair product place, like Sally's.

I tried to dye my hair brown and it came out black...so yeah it goes wrong especially if you buy cheap brands, and sometimes even with more expensive ones. If you're not in a hurry, just keep trying with new hair dye until it comes out right, but if you need it back to your original soon go to a hairdresser.
L'Oreal would probably not refund anything, because maroon and dark brown are close enough together for them to be able to blame it on you doing it wrong, plus the colour you end up with changes depending on how dark or light your hair is to begin with.

no, most of the time a color never turns out the way it should. It is old fashioned but if you want your hair back to the way it was you could use peroxide. It takes the dye out of your hair. But I have never tried it so don't use too much if you do try it. If you do try it I would take a small piece of hair and try it that way then wait an hour and see how it looks.

No because your supposed to dye your hair at your own risk. I've dyed my hair tons of times all different colors, but its always best to have it done professionally. I think the only thing you can do now is go have it fixed at a salon or grow your hair out naturally:(.

No, Loreal won't do anything and they aren't responsible anyway. They can't know what color your hair was before you used their product or if you used it correctly.

I've never had my hair come out a completely different color but I have had it come out with a different variation. ( example, more reddish highlights than blonde) The color will fade, also, over time so wait about 2 weeks before you decide this isn't the right color.

It most likely has to do with the color you used previously.

Happened to me, hair turned a bright day glow orange. Shampooed it over and over and called the number on the box. They should refund your money but the hassle won't be refunded.
